Conservatives -vs- Liberal

I don't characterize myself as either; but the sentiment, at least on this board and from the white house seems to say the word "Liberal" as if it were a curse word.

By definition I know what the two mean, but when did the country become so anti-liberal, anti-conservative, pro-liberal, pro-conservative.

Anyone, in my opinion, who barracades them self on one side or another- or takes the stance of the "group" without hearing the matter and reaching their own conclusion, in my mind- is a fool...

Is that Liberal or Conservative?

What do you guys think? If you must put yourself under this auspice of one form of groupthink or another- which side do you choose?

I personally think people that post new threads incessantly in GD is a fool. It shows a need for continuous attention.

IMHO, Liberal and conservative are two terms basically for the extreme far ends of political agendas. Usually, the only people that fall into these groups are politicians, religious nuts, and kookie hollywood people. Real people always fall inbetween, usually not far from the center.

The problem is that nobody in the middle will never get elected. So basically, people end up voting for whichever extremist is on their side of the center; the one that they agree with most, although rarely does someone truly approve of everything a candidate believes. I don't vote for anybody, I vote against people. I decide who would be the worst candidate in my opinion and vote for whoever is most likely to beat them; whoever I feel to be the lesser of two evils.

As political parties go, I personally feel my thoughts are actually best represented by the Libertarian party, but they have a few totally kookie party ideals that will prevent them from ever being widely popular with most people, including myself.

Unfortunately, in todays world, one must choose a small number of key issues, and vote for someone who is least likely to dissapoint them in those regards.

This fool checked with his group-think section leader. The party line is we are out of troll food, so we cannot feed you this week.

FWIW, my group of like-thinkers felt that a less insulting initial post may have generated a few bites on a political forum, but you are likely SOL on a truck forum.

Happy fishing!

Nah, I'm done with it Arctic~ I asked the questions because on some other thread- someone was spouting off about Liberal this, Conservative that, yadda-yadda, yadda. My point was- I don't think anyone is completely one thing or another- that's what I was trying to find out. I was wondering if everyone actually listened to the issue, then made a call- or if they followed the leader.

Fanatical-Extremists is how the **** party got started and became dominant in 1930's Germany. I was just trying to see if we were progressing or retrograding since it seems that some people try to tie Republican to Conservative and Democrat to Liberal.

I thought at the end of the day we were all Americans.

Actually, let's just keep talking about the drop-out feature.
Perhaps this train-wreck of a thread can infect all others on the site:
