Tree Huggers: Anti SUV threads

http://dir.yahoo.com/Recreation/Auto...lity_Vehicles/

If you ever wonder what Ya-Hoos get together and go out destroying brand-new SUVs that are still on the dealership lots, I'd start looking here.

FBI-Agents, this may be a vague but interesting starting point.

I think it's more jealousy than "concern for the environment". Motor Trend did a study that showed the Ford Excursion (gas)was cleaner than a 1990 Toyota Corolla (Or some small car from back then).

That's progress....

I'm far from a hippie but from what I Read, Global Warming is now a majority opinion. Ignorance does not make things go away.

We should start our own group:
People who hate people who hate SUVs.

This group could also be called:
People who hate people who wear birkenstocks.
People who hate women who don't shave their legs n' armpits.
People who hate men who can't get laid.
People who hate people with too much time on their hands.
People who hate people who wear homemade hemp clothing.
People who hate people who whine about everything but never do anything.

Yep we have had global warming since the Ice Ages, hence the reason we are no longer in the Ice Ages… (that one always gets the tree huggers)

The fact of the matter is, yes we may have global warming, but NOBODY can prove why it happens. It’s a natural phenomenal that has been happening for much longer then any automobile has been around.

If you really wanted to know how, or more specifically, when global warming began you would need statistical weather data going back a few thousand years, 10,000 years back still wouldn’t help much since the earth has been here millions of years.

The data most scientist use is a hundred years or so, that tells you there is NO good reliable, sound statistic data about weather patterns and temperature changes.

Don’t worry about global warming, it’s a good thing, there are more pro’s to it then con’s, its great for farming and it gave humans the ability to live…

What is really funny is watching these loonies explain global warming to everyone. If you have a record day of heat, they come out running with tears in their eyes “global warming”. When you have record cold temperatures, they come out running “global warming”.

So which is it? Is global warming responsible for nice hot summer days or sub-zero cold winter nights? It is NOT both…

Global warming is a trend that occurs over eons. I'm not a hippy, and I do understand science. The earth warms and cools in cycles, it has for it's entire 4.6 billion years of existence. Man did not cause the last ice age, we're also not burning this place up either.

As a hunter and enjoyer of nature I am a conservationalist at heart, but I'm not an enviro whackie and I'm not a birkenstock wearing patchouli oil smelling, tree huggin, SUV burning hippie either. Learn to distinguish junk science and opinion from facts, that goes for us all.

Keep in mind the average median temps are taken at the world's airports. And what do you have there? Jet engines and alot of heat. Global warming is nothing more than scare tactics. People bought pet rocks back in the 70's. There's a sucker born every minute.

On a side note, I would loose my mind & shoot the stupid Italian man put this bump sticker on my vehicle. I know I don't drive an SUV, I drive a fullsize pick-up...probably even more pointless than an SUV since I don't do MUCH hauling.

What right does that foolish Italian man-***** have to call Thomas Paine a pain in the ***!? (I want a gun rack in my truck)
I had a gun rack in my 97, it wouldn't doo me much good in the screw though, my son would knock it down. :o

Global warming...the topic is such a non-starter...there is no proof that it is occurring, that its dangerous, that it is caused by man's actions, etc.

There is nothing more beautiful than mountain scenes, forests, lake, rivers. I love the outdoors but like Pony_driver said...you can love the outdoors and not be an eco nut.

I think golf course can be great to look at and think of all the work that went into that.

Anyhow....one of the funniest bits I've heard about the eco nuts is Paul Shanklin's "In a Yugo". Very funny. Sung to the tune of "in a ghetto" by Elvis

You can download it here:

In A Yugo

Gotta listen to the words:

"as those small wheels turn.....50 miles to the gallon and their knees in their chests..."

What a line..

Jim

PS:
What is a good slogan for an anti-anti-suv bumper sticker? I had some good ones for anti-Kerry (for ppl who had Kerry sticks add a "I support dolphins" sticker)
'I (heart) my gass guzzling SUV' Above a 'Pave the earth' bumper sticker.

Just to put my view in more perspective on how scientist use to little data to back up their claims you could use the stock market.

Ok, the Earth is thought to be 4.5 to 4.8 billion years old. For my example I am going to use the figure 4 billion years.

Now, we know scientist are only using data that is a few hundred years old if that but for this example I am going to presume their data goes back 500 years.

Therefore, to give a perspective of how much data scientist are using let’s divide 500 years into 4 billion to come up with a percentage, this would be the percentage that 500 years is to 4 billion years.

500 years / 4 billion years = 0.000000125

Now 0.000000125 X 100 = 0.0000125%

Following so far?

Now, the stock market open in 1865 so that makes it 140 years old, or in operation. So 1 year equals 365 days, but the stock market is only open on weekdays. So to figure out how many actual days a year the stock market is open we subtract the weekend days (104 days) from 365 to arrive at 261 days a year the stock market is open for trading. I am just ignoring holidays to make this simple.

The fun part begins, if we use the stock market to put what scientist are using for data on global warming into perspective all we have to do is determine how many hours the stock market has traded for in the past 140 years.

Easy, 261 days X 140 years = 36,540 days total. Now multiply that by 8 hours a day and you get 36,540 days X 8 hours = 292,320 hours.

So here is how you put the 500 years of data (remember I am giving them twice the amount of data they actually have) the scientist are using into perspective. We arrived at 0.0000125% which is the percentage of time the scientist are using to “predict” what temperatures have done and are possibly going to do.

Total stock market trading hours 292,320 X 0.0000125% = 3.65 or 3 hours and 39 minutes.

Now I ask, who is going to determine how the stock market is going to do for the next 100 plus years based on the last 3 hours and 39 minutes of trading?

The tree huggers just don’t get it…

I hear you, I was lucky enough to get a lecture about buying a gas guzzling truck from a former co worker. The dumb b!tch drives an old hyundai that leaks oil all over the parking lot and burns a fair amount of it too from the smell. Funny how driving an old badly maintained hyundai and spilling (and burning) motor oil into the enviroment gives you the right to lecture others.

Did you point that out to her?
