Nobody in particular, I just didn't like the direction the thread was heading. For anyone to basically state that they don't care about copyright law when it is brought up as a concern from the site owner says to me that the same people don't give a crap about this site. The thread was removed before it caused another problem. For those that are angry about it, I'd recommend Google's image search and you can find plenty of similar pics. This site is, after all, supposed to be about trucks.

I was surprised it lasted as long as it did. The longer it went, the more the pictures were crossing over the line of decency that has been established here for some time. That thread was cut a lot of slack and people took advantage of it. I enjoyed it while it lasted. Now it's over. Get over it.

I made a partial bad statement it that particular thread and for that I apologize to the webmaster here. I had not read his reply on that thread. I don’t recall my exact post but it was something along this line:

”If it doesn’t have a copyright logo on it then it is public domain and anyone can use it as they wish”
I went on the further state:

”If there is a copyright logo on it then just put it in Photoshop and take care of the copyright logo”
That last statement was absolutely irresponsible and after reading the webmasters (Steve’s) post could be taken as a slap in the face. I apologize because I was wrong and irresponsible.

However, I do stand by the first quote, and the reason being is unless there is some type of copyright logo on a picture how would someone know if you can or can not use it? I ask this because I would not want to “knowingly” or “purposely” put this site at risk. I have some “funny” pictures in my gallery and if they are in question I have no problem deleting them but the question I have for the webmaster, moderators or anyone with the knowledge is how would I or someone else determine that?

Not intended to get this back into a big debate, but it is the site visitor's responsibility to review the terms and conditions, terms or use or disclaimer(s) of any and every site they visit.

Copyrights and trademarks are very different things. Copyrighted documents do not require any sort of mark in order to be valid or defensable.

As a wise man (perhaps the attorney I keep on retainer) once told me, "ignorance of the law is not a defense."

99.99% of the time it won't be an issue, but since it was brought to my attention by two image owners, it was my responsibility to bring it to the site's attention. Since there were so many that did not care, I took preventive measures (and will continue to do so from now on).

BTW, I did some quick sampling on sites that are the source of very popular pics, often redistributed on sites like this. Of the eight I visited, seven had very specific language about their copyrights. Three even required the user to click an "I Agree" link to access the material. The content of the (often ignored) terms and conditions specifically spoke to copyrights, redistribution, etc.

The idea of "for profit" came up in the discussion in that thread. The reality is that F150online is a commercial, for-profit business. If I allow copyrighted material to continue to be posted after someone complains, even if it was posted byclick an "I Agree" link to access the material. The content of the (often ignored) terms and conditions specifically spoke to copyrights, redistribution, etc.

For every page we display, we have an advertisement, so we are "profiting" from posting copyrighted material. It's simple as that.

The apology posts are not necessary, guys (and/or gals). My response was not intended to single out or condemn any one person. I just wanted to make sure everyone was aware of the issue at hand. Thanks.

Steve-o, c'mon... that thread was moved right? Not deleted? Now it's left as spank-material for mods and not the general membership... pervs.
