I too deleted the images that I had scabbed off the .net before it was shut down..I left my own work up but the ones That I had found on the web and couldn't conifrm where or who the original owners where so I deleted them from the post and the server. I apologize if it was one of my images posted that caused the debate to start. The worst part is I knew better, but I just couldn't help myself...sorry! Ussally © is not a issue, but the thread grew in popularity to the point that it became one.

Just out of curiousity W.M.... What was tthat threads statistics? Average per day or maximum either one.

You know, I've seen tamer threads get wacked a lot faster, but when I see all the images of cars posted directly from manufacturers web sites- which are also copyrighted, I figured we were OK- since the same thing happens on any of another 1,000 forums on the WWW.

Even the mods had posted and/or commented on that thread- so I thought as long as we kept teh girls clothed, we'd be OK. But, when Steve said we were crossing the line- I deleted my images- and that's that.

It's Steve's site...

But, all that aside- I think the A's defeated the T's.

Posting images from other sites is free advertising for them. I'm sure most would not object to it as long as it is shown in the correct context.

cia-agent,

You make a good point about other threads that contain copyrighted material, notably car pics from manufacturer sites, etc.

If you consider the material posted in the T & A thread, most of it has a high members-only profit motive from the copyright owners. My guess is that many of the pics were "teases" the get people to register (i.e. pay) from more of the same.

Because of that, images of T & A are going to be more likely to be brought to our attention than those of a 2003 Ford F150 XLT...

Steve

They keep traffic logs like everyone else. I can go back one year "thats all the time that I've had my site" and see who was where and how long and what they looked at while on my site or what images/files where requested from where.

Lets all have a moment of silence to remember a great thread....

Ok, thanks for being so tolerant of that time bomb anyway, it was fun while it lasted. I have to say that while I originally said i was a "t" man I developed a new appreciation for the "a" aspect as well.

I had the foresight to save quite a few of the finer pics for further review.
The copyright snafu is what closed it down I think.
