Not a full size, but interesting article on the new Honda pickup.

Honda is the last of the Big-Japanese to get into the truck market and they are now in 2005 just easing in, this thing looks pretty "girly" and not much more than a SUV with a bed. Can you say "Glorified Grocery Getter".

my wife and i were looking at Honda's about 2 weeks back. The salesman was looking at my truck and said that Honda was bringing out a new truck and showed me the brochuer. I laughed and said it was cute and that there is no way I would ever get rid of my Ford for that. I think he was offended, but who cares? In my personal opinion, I think it is pretty ugly.

I don't think that comparing it to a Sport Trac is nice, Sport Tracs have no purpose on this earth other than to confuse people that drive real trucks. Why would you even have a bed that is that small?

they sell a version of the Sport Trac all over the world... it's called the crew cab Ranger.

I would never buy one but I do like the tailgate design. That would move you the two feet closer to the carge and be real nice for getting stuff in and out of the truck. Otherwise no thanks

They call out that tailgate design as "unique", but the GMC Envoy XUV has one just the same....with a roll down window in it.

The handles have electric switches in them so when you grab it, it decides which way it will open. If you want to open it as a tailgate, you lower it then have to attach the 2nd tailgate cable manually.

I don't see a real good situation where you'd want to swing it open.

Ford had that tailgate design on their station wagons starting in the mid 60s. Not a new idea, just hasn't been on a pickup. I wonder how much weight the tailgate will hold without straps? I suspect it wouldn't be as strong as the strap models.

I think the tailgate is pretty cool too, but like others, I have no real use for it.
