Ford customer service
I'm a brand new Ford customer and I really like my new F150 but I am trying to get the dealer to install power fold mirrors - a $200 option with GM. Since the dealer was unable or unwilling to install the mirrors I wanted I thought I would call Ford Customer Service for some technical advice on installing a different wiring harness in the door to power the mirrors. I got an Ingrid at Customer Service who had only one message " talk to your local dealer". When I politely asked to talk to her supervisor she refused and gave me her ID no. 3530. I finally told her that I wanted to file a complaint and she took the needed info. I asked her if someone would contact me regarding my complaint and she said "no but the local dealer would get a copy" This is some of the worst customer service I have experienced - hope that it's not typical. I'm really frustrated.
I personally wouldn't want any dealer to install power mirrors. It would be too risky as in scratches, etc. I have always taken my new Fords to Lincoln/Merc. dealers for warranty repairs anyways. If you do some research on the mirrors i'm sure you could find some info and maybe try that project yourself and save the aggravation.

Welcome to F150 ownership and F150 online!! Sorry to hear about your difficulties with Customer Service. I've never dealt with them so I have no idea what its normally like. Hope you get the mirrors that you want and everything works out for you. Glad you're liking your truck though, they're great aren't they?!
Sorry how they treated you at that dealer...I wonder how some of these ford people make a living at times...
Ok Rockpick just got a new KingRanch with those mirrors and you could ask his opinion and what he thinks of his setup here...
I have done some building in my day and if it was possible to get a wider garage door in your space ? that may be a better idea to try and the 8'-0" one seems tight for your truck...You can sell the old door to someone as people are always looking for doors like that...You may need a new header over it but ...Well its just a thought...
As if it was me that dealer would never get close to my truck now for how you were treated...I would also e-mail Bill Ford with your story...I saw his e-mail address on the main Ford company site...
Have a good day at any rate and enjoy your truck...

I think concreteguy has the right answer. Change the garage door.
When you try and add/change something like the mirrors you're talking about....well it can get mighty expensive.
Just guessing......Mirrors $200+ each, Door harnesses $100 each, switch $75, etc.
Then you might have a problem where the door harnesses attach to the main loom to get power to the right door. Main loom could be different.
Anyway, sounds like a very $$$ upgrade, if you're trying to do it correctly with Ford parts.
I'm in the auto/tk repair business and I wouldn't take a job like that from a customer.
Also, just because the dealership does it doesn't mean it will be covered by the 36/36 warranty.

Ford customer service is worthless most of the times, I work for a dealer.
I can see where the dealer is coming from on adding these mirrors. If they did install them for you, they will not carry a warranty of any kind.
In the service department we get some strange requests from the sales departments regarding add-ons. Most of the requests are down right dumb to ask for, changing seats from one car to another, interior mirrors that don't have the auto dim feature.
I would suggest you try another dealer with the approach, I understand if you install this you cannot warranty this, you may find someone to do it this way.

Sorry about your experience here Bob. I know it's very frustrating to dump a huge load of money into something and not receive the service that you think that you deserve. I, too, have been in the same boat with other products/services out there (as have nearly all of us at some point in time) but, I've had quite the opposite type of experience with Ford's customer service folks. I'll spare you all the gory details but, it involved a transmission for a former vehicle that I owned when it was OUTSIDE of warranty by around 12K miles. Another instance got me a new steering wheel for my old King Ranch (2001) when no one really thought they would warranty it. Another instance involved getting me several bits of information that I requested specifically about the build dates/specs of my 2001 KR...
So, needless to say, I think that many of us have had good experiences with them.
Now, on to your power fold mirror dilemma. I, for one, LOVE the option to pull the mirrors in just like the Denali or Suburban but, I, for one, wouldn't expect someone at Ford's Customer Care center to be able to pull up information on such an option on their computer. Further, I'd be blown away if they could sit there and walk you through the process of installing it or providing information about wiring harnesses, parts, etc. The service rep was correct in referring you to your local dealership in my opinion as I'm sure she's not a Ford trained technician but more of a service rep who is there to help you obtain the information you're wanting to get. Unfortunately, it is at your local dealership where that information is readily available.
Now, as for her seemingly poor attitude, I think you're totally within your right as a customer to demand more respect. Like you've described, I've encountered very poor service and have made complaints to people in higher places. As I can recall, most were never brought back to my attention with an apology or similar but, in turn, some where. Equally, I like to put in a nice report with supervisors when I have a great experience with a Customer rep. Having worked within the retail world for several years in college; a little bit of positive feedback from customers goes an EXCEEDINGLY long way with management. Equally again, it takes a lot of complaining to go the same distance from my experiences.
So, in summary, I understand your frustrations and disappointments but, expecting, what is probably, a college student on the other end of a phone line to get you all of the part numbers and very specific information about something that you wish to do to your truck is probably a bit out on a limb. But, by the same token, obtaining respectable customer service is something that we, as customers, expect and demand.
Please let us know how things turn out. I hope that, at a minimum, you get a phone call from someone with an apology. Even my local Papa John's Pizza place did that for me recently...

Hey Bob...
I got your email this morning about your technical issue with the site but, from the looks of things, you've managed to figure them out. Please drop me a line if you have any questions and, again, best of luck with your situation!
