How about that Dream Team, eh?

Iverson, and the other juvenile delinquents failed to come thru.

Like most of the NBA and its players these days. . .

All show, no substance.

From the Associated Press:

ATHENS, Greece (AP) - The U.S. men's basketball team will go home from the Olympics without a gold medal for the first time since it began using NBA players after the Americans were beaten soundly by Argentina 89-81 in the semifinals Friday.

Plenty of substance, it's just mostly abused.

I'm more pissed at the lazy a-holes that declined to go b/c they are too busy driving around in their H2's and Escalades instead of representing their country, and the selection comittee that fielded a team at the last minute that was ill equiped to compete agains international competition. You have to have guards and guys who can shoot to win in the olympics. At least the ones who went tried to win but they had a lot going against them.

Thats exactly why we should quit sending so called professional ahtletes and let it get back to the college players. Someone who really gives a sheet to be there and dont think they get the gold just for showin up.

Sled...

I agree with the college players idea, but with a twist.

IMO, whichever team wins the NCAA tournament in an Olympic year is our new Olympic team. If that team has a few foreign players, they could be replaced my members of the previous year's NCAA champion.

For some players, this might even be an incentive to stay in school if they knew it was their only chance ever at playing in the Olympics.

While the NCAA #1 may not have the talent of an All-Star squad, it is a TEAM GAME, and you don't win the NCAA without knowing how to play as a team.

We should send the Coaches pick of the All-final Four college team each year, or even the National Champions each year. Of course, then you will have guys backing out because they don't want to jeopardize a potential multi-million dollar pro contract.

Edit: Sorry dbd, didn't see your post first.... same idea sort of!

Another twist, if that team has a few foreign players, throw them out of school that year, make'em go to college in the country they wish to play for.
