The Presidential Election Poll -- Who's Your Winner?
G.W. is gonna keep it going. I just hope he gets sack enough to tell some of his foolish cronies in his administration (that obviously
shouldn't have been given their positions) that we need to get our men and women of the military safely home .. I was all for the
destruction of al quaida and the taliban losers, but no exit strategy for our forces now is a long thorn in his task at hand..

'01's wife here.
Here is a quote from a poster on page 5.
I suggest that someone who thinks this way actually looks at nationalized healthcare. I was born in Canada (was only there for 9 months). Most of my relatives are still in Canada. Most Canadians that actually need surgery, or treatment for serious conditions, come to the United States............ and pay out of their own pockets. This way, they know they are getting quality healthcare. It may be expensive, but expensive is better than waiting months for an appointment............ getting denied treatment because there just are not enough doctors to provide it.......... or getting half assed treatment because all of the decent doctors went to a country where they can actually make a living (even with the horrific malpractice insurance costs).
My grandmother died because of the shoddy treatment from the doctors in Canada. I'm not saying they are all bad............. just that some of them obviously are not the best.
Our healthcare system may suck............... but until some country shows that there is a way to make nationalized healthcare work........... I'll be happy with our sucky system.
BTW, Bush for President !!!!
PS, I do not claim to be a Republican, as there are many Republican ideologies that I do not agree with.............. However, Bush is obviously the best man for the job at this time.

Health care in this country is Embarassing! Something Real needs to be done. If we're going to spend all this money on taxes, we might as well get something out of it.

I call BS.
A handful of people will cross the border for an MRI because they don't want to wait a couple of weeks.
But major surgury? To the tune of $100,000?
Yeah, I see a whole lot of houses for sale.
Yes there is a doctor shortage... because there have been cuts to the healthcare system by all levels of governemt. The current government promises to reverse that... meaning the doctors will come back.
Just like all jobs. Sometimes its an employers market... sometimes its an employees market.
As far as I'm concerned, the optimal system is halfway between paid-for-service and universal healthcare.

Yes, our system has problems, as do all of the systems world wide. Our medical system has been lauded around the world as an example of what medicare can be. Our system provides good health care (for the most part) for aprox. half the cost per capita of the US system. The first question asked in emerg. is "what's the problem" rather than "do you have insurance" No one is refused because they can't pay or is stuck in a charity ward. No corporation is making huge profits from the misery and pain of the ill and injured.
I could go on, but this is starting to sound like a rant, so, I'll stop now.
Most people here know that Habibi has had some serious medical problems over the past year. Hear any major complaints from him about the system? I didn't think so...

It's hard for me to defend any health care system that focuses more on treatment than cures. What's the last major illness anyone remembers being eradicated? It seems to me that it would be against the interests of both the medical profession and the drug companies to actually cure their patients rather than treat their symptoms.
With that said, free health care equals wide scale abuse. Clinic waiting rooms full of people with the sniffles and sour stomachs doesn't bode well for people who are miserably sick getting in to see a doctor very quickly. I've heard that the Canadian system is very good up to a point. That point being major illnesses and special services. I'm sure that some people have better experiences than others depending on availability at time of illness. Same thing goes for other socialized medical systems.

On the other hand, in your system you have a lot of people that have a real need to see a doctor, but don't go because they can't afford to.
I am with 01’s wife on this one and that is government funded and paid for health care will NEVER work. It will get you half-assed doctors and half-assed services that cost MORE money then they do today, expect you won’t actually be paying for it up front.
The cost will be hidden so you THINK you have free health care. Anybody with a functioning brain KNOW’S there is NO such thing as anything being FREE, and absolutely NOT for everyone.
Who the hell do you think pays for EVERYBODIES free medial and dental care? Boy o boy do we need MAJOR education change in this country. I see the liberals have really got everything screwed up when you have people “actually” believing that everybody can actually get something for free…
You WILL PAY FOR IT, when you buy food, when you buy gasoline, when you products in the store, you WILL PAY for it and you will PAY more then you are today. It’s called taxes.
Why do you think all these socialist countries have such high taxes? Look over at some of these countries that pay over $5 for a gallon of gas and people feel bad for them, like somehow they are getting screwed. They are NOT getting screwed they are getting exactly what they asked for a socialist forum of government that is less efficient and more costly then the free market like here in America.
I am not sure what the answer is to solving the health care problems we are having in America is but I can tell you one good place to start is to get these greedy *** lawyers out of the system.
Malpractice insurance is WAY out of hand in this country. Sure if a doctor screws up then the person he screwed up on is entitled to something but NOT multi-millions of dollars. I mean come on now, you know like that stupid old lady that spilled all by herself hot coffee on her because she didn’t have a freaking brain but sued McDonalds for big bucks.
Same thing with health care, some doctor makes a mistake and there is two problems, first some greedy *** lawyer trying to retire with one lawsuit and then the other problem is how doctors are able to some how hide that they screwed up. Make doctors screw-ups public, and depending on how bad they screw up FIRE THEM FOREVER from ever practicing again.
When there is law suits make them reasonable it does NOT take millions of dollars to make someone whole again (stupid lawyer terminology). However I would support a multi-million dollar lawsuit if some guy walked in for knee surgery and woke up as a woman…

Why stop at free government healthcare?
I feel sorry for all the people who can't afford decent transportation, so they can't get a decent job, so they can't get a better vehicle, so they can't get out and look for a better job, so..........it's a catch 22 man!!! It's all the freakin rich Republicans!!! They've got their feet on our necks, and won't let us up man!!!! I say the government should give everyone over the age of 15 a free F-150 so we all can build the Eutopian society that we all deserve! Damn rich people will never go for it though, cause they're EVIL! Sons of bitches!!
