its called an oligopoly, like a monopoly but with a few key companies who control the market.

a kinked demand curve would show how they related with prices.

i hate when i see people and reports say, well if gas was adjusted for inflatation it would be 3/gallon and our gas prices are low to begin with

full of bs.

what about raising mininium wage to the inflatation

i haven't seen none of that, i dont make much a hour, and paying for college , have a hard time paying for gas as it is,
and if the mininium wage went up with inflatation, i would be making a few extra grand a year.

mininium wage havent been changed since 97,
which was 7 years ago

kind of outdated, dont you think?

Question A little reality check

For those of you thinking that gas is expensive in the US, why don't you do some research and find out how much people in Europe pay....over 4 bucks a gallon!! And yes, the oil companies are making a killing. I am sure that Mr. Bush has some Texan friends that doing quite well right now.

well gas prices in europe are around like 4 a gallon

but 80 percent of that is tax

wonder why its so high

and our gas is taxed about 30 percent

if u do the math, if they taxed the gas like how we do it in the states

it would be cheaper in europe

enough excuses

inflatation, and sayin other countries pay alot more than us for gas. etc

we need to lower the gas so we can start hauling a$$ without paying it out of our a$$

NO Domestic Production

Thanks to the Liberal morons in congress, we just don't explore, develop or even expand our oil resources anymore. Thanks to them more than half our deficit is from energy importation. We could be doing a lot better, Alaska has plenty of resources that we can't touch. Those pictures of ANWR you see on TV aren't anywhere near where oil production would be.

The footprint for development in ANWR would be that of an 18 hole golf course in an area the size of South Carolina. How insane have we become?

Alaska could provide the volume of production that Venzuela now does for the U.S., but Kennedy, Kerry and the other brainless idiots in Congress want donations, not what is best for the country.

Time to Riot

Mark

As was mentioned we are a free market society and no one is forcing anybody to drive vehicles that consume gasoline. They have electric vehicles and bicycles that will provide transportation just as well.

To far to ride you bike to work then change your job, no one is forcing anybody to work at a particular place of employment, are they?

Sure oil companies are making money that’s why they went into business. However your local governments are making lots of money off you as well for every gallon you pump and NO they are not always using the to keep up the roads they use if for anything they wish to use it for.

Upset about the gas prices then start writing you local representatives and tell them to build more refineries, to start pumping the oil out of OUR grounds, to build more nuclear power plants, or wind mill farms if you like those, tell them that you want back all your tax money you pay at the pump that is not directly related to the upkeep and maintenance of roads and bridges, tell them to scrape all these different EPA clean air requirements that states are setting and have ONE EPA standard for gasoline. If everyone wants to meet California (toughest in the nation) standards then fine make it a federal standard used in all states.

That will reduce the cost of production since all refineries will be making one blend of gasoline instead of hundreds of blends for every nutcase environmental wacko that wants to feel like they have POWER over the people.

Some people talk about the oil companies have big time power have no clue who has the power in this country which is many radically groups of individuals that represent a very few people but have big mouths like John Kerry.

You think we have high gas prices now just imagine John Kerry as President and today’s prices will be a distant dream of “The good ol’ days”

”You have the power to fight the big mean oil companies, simple STOP driving gasoline burning vehicles…” Burt
