New Orleans bound...

Well, my lovely wife of 12 years and I are heading to New Orleans for Mardi Gras . It's her 50th B-day (ahem , I meant 39th B-day) wish. We leave tomorrow and it should be the biggest freak show I have ever been part of. Never been there or done that before.

I wanted to take a video camera but... She says there are already enough "Girls Gone Wild" videos. I borrowed my nephews "Pimp Daddy" costume, so I guess I better get an extra large box of beads because we are staying in the heart of the French Quarter.

I'm looking forward to a great (different?) time. Good food, music and the other stuff.

Take care,

Have fun! Be careful!

Be sure to take a BUNCH of photographs that you should post somewhere other than f150online.com so that we can all enjoy them...

Of course, I'm referring to how everything is decorated and no amature nudity.

you will have a great time. just don't expect to sleep much if you are staying on the french quarter because the party is 24/7

keep your wallet in your front pocket, don't eat anything from the street vendors, go to ACME for oysters, everything is expensive on the quarter, I hope you don't mind the smell of bleach and barf in the early morning, chickory coffee rules!!, only get hurricanes at pat obriens because the ones on the street are lame and $$, during the day take the river boat lunch cruise up the river it rocks! do not stray to far from the quarter because someone gets killed every day/night in the surrounding hoods.

by the way there are cameras all over the french quarter that snap pics every few seconds and you can look them up on the nawlin's city website they stay on there for about 48 hours.

I wish I was going this year!!

Better you than me

Way too many people. Almost to the point where you cant move. All tourists looking for a excuse to act a fool. FYI lots of people get arrested. Not a safe place for the week.

If you cant tell, I've had my fair share of times on Bourbon.

But since you're going, eat @ mothers & Jauque - imo's and for the love of god STAY AWAY FROM LUCKY DOGS

Well I just returned from New Orleans and Mardi Gras.

It is one of those must do things but once was enough for me. After 4 rolls of film I got tired of taking pictures of "Flashers" . Got some excellent pictures just waiting to develop them.

It is truly amazing what people will do for beads. Bourbon street was an off the hook party. Unbelievable amount of trash every day. In the morning it would smell like barf and bleach. Gotta take the bad with the good.

Pat Obrian makes a good hurricane but the best hurricane is made at the oldest pub in America, Jean La Fitte's Blacksmith shop.

The food was great and the Quarter was much better when Mardi Gras was over. I gotta find a place to post some of the flash photography.

The only advice I can give is don't stay on the Quarter during Mardi Gras. Stay just outside and walk in.

Cheers
