Seperation of Church and flights?

I just find this funny. People will find absolutely anything to bitch about...
If I were on the flight I wouldn't have given a damn. Just gone about my business. Doesn't matter what religion it is or anything else. Maybe he shouldn't have said anything as touchy as this nation is these days. Everything affends someone anymore, but please, let it go...
and the women's comment to the pilot, "you should be ashamed"? whatever...

I must disagree, I don't find it funny at all.
It is 'not normal' for a pilot to ask an passenger particpation question of that type. I would have crapped my pants.
I reference Oct 31, 1999 EgyptAir Flight 990
Here is the NTSB brief:
http://www.ntsb.gov/Publictn/2002/aab0201.htm
Rather than wade thru the whole thing here is the probable cause:
"The National Transportation Safety Board determines that the probable cause of the EgyptAir flight 990 accident is the airplane's departure from normal cruise flight and subsequent impact with the Atlantic Ocean as a result of the relief first officer's flight control inputs. The reason for the relief first officer's actions was not determined."
("I rely on God." he whispered)

Well, now that I look at it from that view, I guess you're right. It couldn've meant he was going to do something, but still "I" probably wouldn't have thought anything of it... but that's just me, so I take it back, maybe it wasn't funny in this context...
here is my thought on this
and this in no way condemns nor condones the pilots actions:
"when you airport screeners stop the flow of bad things (of which there are many documented cases of nasty things passing screenings) and when the FAA gives me a pistol, then and only then will I stop taking highjacking safety into my own hands"
Who knows, maybe one of the Sept 11 pilots was a good friend and he doesnt want to end the same way.
Or maybe he's racist.
WHo knows.

I am with Raoul on this one. It would have made me a bit nervous. I would have rather had the pilot come on and asked us to sing along:
If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands (clap) (clap)
If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands (clap) (clap)
Or maybe:
I love you, you love me, we’re a dysfunctional family

or maybe he just lost everything to his ex in a nasty divorce.
or maybe he has a child that needs expensive surgery and his insurance pays double for Accidental death.
or maybe he's losing 'it'. That would be the most likely considering his chit-chat choices on the PA. Some testing/counseling is in order.
Maybe a bus driver could get away with it or even a train conductor but, not the guy flying the airplane.

The pilot obviuosly used the wrong time and place to say what he did, but he was excited about his missions trip.
Fro CNN to make news of it , is typical of them. Had the pilot said he was coming out as a come drunk punk homosexual who just satisfied forty perverts with his tonsils, it never would have made the news.
Gee and only two complaints thats news worthy.

And if he does he better clean it up! A passenger could slip in it and then they would have a serious lawsuit.
always hated flying.
i hate putting my life in someone elses hands.
i think there are too many variables in the maintance of the planes that would allow for some problems to go unnoticed.
if i heard the pilot make that statement prior to leaving the gate i would have asked to deboard that plane.

Im diagnosed with depression, and found the pilots phrase "If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands" very offensive as it excludes me because of my depression.
I don't think it was appropriate that the pilot is telling us that he loves us. It makes me scared, I don't know him, he could be a stalker.
Maybe they should just change the flying rules to take your seat and ****, since it seems thats all you can do on planes anymore.
Next month my girlfriend and I are going to England and this will be her first time on a plane (except skydiving). I know she will get nervous and panicy (sp?), so I'm getting concerned that some schmuck may find her *unpredictable* and have us thrown off the plane because of her *mental state*
Maybe I'm just to cynical
