All you little girls need to your stop crying .... there are a million ways for someone to kill you, smoking near you isnt one of them....sorry to tell you that, I almost wish it was possible at this point
Bottom Line = Dont like smoke? Dont like the "icky" smell? Stay the hell away from it then.
We already gave up our f'en bars and restaurants to you guys here in Florida. Its total BS that I cant go to a god damn bar and have a smoke with my beer... a lot of local bars have lost over 50% of their income due to that stupid law. A lot of them have to keep paying the fines because they cant afford to obey the law...it has shut down many a bar in its first year of being active.
So thank you "good citizens" ... Im sure you will all live long an healthy lives now that your lungs are safe from the couple puffs you might inhale in your intire life through 2nd hand.
You guys must have watched to many after school specials growing up.... or maybe the media is to blame for hyping it up so much... use your head, some people smoke 2 packs a day and never have a single smoke related medical problem.... you think the few times you smell it or get too close are going to hurt you??
get real....

All non smokers, or just anyone who doesnt agree with your point of view?
Just the ones who whine.... I didnt smoke for a long long time, and didnt really like it either...but I never complained because someone near me was smoking...especially because of a false pre-text like "2nd hand smoke kills" .... Its just annoying to me how smokers get **** on constantly.
I used to even try talking people out of smoking, not because I didnt want to be around it or that "2nd hand smoke kills"...but because its bad for the smoker, and at the time I was very active in sports and what not and couldnt understand it.
As I got older I started relaxing my opinions, I have always loved the smell of cigars and pipes since I was a kid. I started having a cigar ocasionally when I was drinking...but they take too long ...and they smell REAL strong. So I started with cigs, they are quick and enjoyable...and come in all sorts of flavors and blends.
Its a great way to relax, I just make sure I dont smoke more than a pack a week...that way I dont have cravings like most people. I skip weeks here and there also sometimes if I dont feel like it that week.

Konig, I think youre out of line. It sounds to me like YOU'RE the one pitching a fit about these newly implemented laws. It IS NOT FAIR to expect people to sit around and inhale your smoke and friggen enjoy it. Smoke in your own damn house, or on an outdoor patio. Fact of the matter is that second hand smoke HAS BEEN PROVEN to cause illness in nonsmokers. Now, I'll let you know that I do smoke occasionally with my buddies, and my dad smokes 3-4 packs a day, but he still respects people enough to only smoke in our home or wide open air environments. Certain areas of Arizona have the same type of non-smoking laws, get over it and YOU QUIT YOUR CRYING.
You need to respect others rights to clean air. Do you like breathing industrial air polution? Same concept. You're the factory.

A good debate is much more enjoyable without insults and name calling.
Just because I have a difference of opinion, I'm not going to 'elevate' myself by trying to belittle someone and bring them down.
I think you are a rarity, finding someone who can smoke only a pack a week is extremely rare, and missing a week here and there is even more rare.
In truth, if I could discipline myself to have 1 smoke per day, I think I would still be smoking, but I can't, so I had to stop. (I smoked about 40 per day up until 2 months ago)
I think smoking would be less harmful to an individual back in the old days, when the Indians were smoking the pipe and stuff. Today, it's not so much the tobacco that will kill you, it's the 86 different chemicals the tobacco companies process the cigarettes with.
They pump so many chemicals into tobacco these days, you need to be a scientist to know what exactly you are putting into your body.
I knew they were unhealthy for me even while I was smoking, but it took a serious illness to get me to stop.
I have no qualms with anyone smoking outside (or in their own home or vehicle), some rules here are silly, like "stay at least 30 feet from the building to smoke" That's a little overboard, I agree.
I wouldn't tolerate someone smoking near me in an enclosed public place.
I would politely ask them to put it out, and if that didn't work, then the fine will be the least of their problems.
It all comes down to respect and treating people the way you want to be treated.

Actually, money is a big factor. What's a pack cost now-a-days, $5.00.....$50.00 for a carton?
How stupid is that.
Kiss a girl that smokes lately?...Kiss your ashtray instead. At least ya don't have to buy your ashtray dinner and some drinks.

Im out of line? Before you shoot off your mouth why dont you go read my previous posts. The ones where I state that smoking outside is acceptable while inside in an enclosed inviroment is not.
(bars to me are exception....because its a BAR)
I just think its insane how the some of you non-smokers just cant be satisifed. If we cant smoke in a restaurant, and not at a bar, and no other inside place....then all we have is outside or in a car...and that isnt good enough?
Im sorry but if any of you came up to me while Im smoking outdoors, and asked me to put it out...... you will need more than clean air to breath properly again.
And comparing industrial smog to second hand smoke is laughable... pollution in a city is far worse for your health than breathing in 1/100ths of a cig hit when you go out to a club or bar on a single night. Get real.
madness I tell you madness!
Habibi: I think we are on the same page for the most part....I know Im somewhat of a rarity when it comes to how much/often I smoke... but not everyone forms an addiction, it loses it pleasure at that point, becomes a need instead of a want.... something I have always avoided since I do enjoy it so much, and would like it stay that way.

non-smoker
Here is my view on this subject.
I don't smoke. Nor have my parents, wife or her parents. I don't expose my kids to it and have taught them that smoking is a bad and silly habit.
I do not begrudge someone the right to smoke. If I get near someone who is smoking, I move further away (like sitting around the campfire at the deer camp on weekends).
As a sinus sufferer, smoke destroys my ability to breathe.
My only gripe/beef with smokers is smoking in a public restaurant. I personally can't stand to go into a restaurant and be seated next to a smoker and have to smell their smoke while I eat my meal. It totally destroys the meal for me. I have never understood how a smoker couldn't smoke one outside before they get in the restaurant and then one when they leave. Most dinners only last 1/2 to 1 hour. Yet they feel the need to light one up inside the restaurant and blow the smoke for everyone to smell. I have see some considerate people that couldn't wait go outside and sit on a bench to light one up. And those restaurants that say the only difference between a smoking and non-smoking section is a row of tables or stub wall are just plain stupid. A local town has established the smoking restriction on restaurants (unless in an isolated room) and that is where the family goes to eat so we don't have to smell it...
As a side note, I do think smoking in a bar should be allowed (unless it serves food/meals as a source of income and hence is a restaurant). Drinking a beer in an establishment, throwing darts and breathing cigarette fumes is an experience that all goes together. If I don't like that, I don't go to the bar.
Therefore, all you puffers, I don't mind the outside smoking where I can avoid the consequence or in a bar, it's just the inside restaurant stuff I am offended by...
Anyway, that was my $.02....

People that die from second hand smoke,do their death certificates actually say their reason for death was second hand smoke?
I am against the health risks of smoking, and it bothers me when a spouse will buy their mate cigs... it's like encouraging them on their habit. If my husband smokes I won't ever buy him a pack... to me that's just wrong.

Konif:
You have to realize that GooberPHX420 is one of them “non-smoking *****” I was referring to before.
Habibi:
You and many others who are non-smokers “but” don’t go around trying to insert some new found rights I do NOT consider as the “non-smoking *****”. Habibi you and I have agreed on many of things and disagreed on a few. I don’t disagree with your post here in this thread.
I understand them and I respect them. I also respect those that would like to have a nice dinner out somewhere and not have to smell someone’s smoke. As a smoker when I dined out I too wanted to enjoy my meal without smelling someone’s smoke and thus I always opted for the “non-smoking” section.
It does not bother me that most restaurants are non-smoking. Fact is there business is not hurting that much. However, it should be the independent business owner that decides if there will be smoking or not in his/her restaurant. It is NOBODY else’s business to decide for the owner what he/she should or should not do so long as it is legal and if it requires a licenses (alcohol) they have it and meet the law.
Here is where the “few” that whine about everything everyone else does, the ****’s not happy about their own life, live in misery so their goal is to make everyone else miserable. Trust me I know this for a fact, the ones running around whining about non-smoking, and second hand smoke kills, and THE SKY IS FALLING ****’s have no clue what they are doing and have no clue why they believe what they believe AND because of that what smoking banned for all, no choice, that is how it is.
They are followers, have no logic to think for themselves, have no ability to forum their own conclusions and thus have no ability to think long term. They act out for the moment and attention, a true follower that is easy to brain wash and plant things in their tiny brains that don’t fire correctly.
For the most part, people like Habibi, Ford Lariat are excellent at debating a subject and offering good reasons for their beliefs. You know what they are stating comes from their OWN heart and mind. Not something they read in a book, internet or heard on TV. They, Habibi and others are able to say, paraphrasing “It’s not good to smoke, I would rather not be in a room with a smoker etc” but they are not trying to dictate to others that IF no one follows what they believe they are bad and evil.
****’s like to make people feel evil for not agreeing with their misguided ways. It is part of their 2 page playbook, mostly pictures for them to color, but a few lines of fiction to run with.
So, ****’s I ask you, IF you think smoking should not be allowed anywhere because it infringes upon your hallucinated right then so be it. However, I feel I have the right to not have to eat in a place that serves hamburgers because hamburgers are dangerous to everyone’s health. They are dangerous to the person eating them because “studies” have shown it can clog arteries and cause major health conditions that cost big money which I and many of other people may end up paying in taxes.
Do I have the right to drive on the roads and never worry about a drunk driver? If so then all alcohol should be illegal because it is dangerous and “studies” have shown it causes domestic abuse, child abuse, and killing of innocent people on the roads EVERY day.
Do you ****’s see where I am going with this? Most likely not since they can not think for themselves so I will help you out.
First, when you start throwing the words “studies” around you had better know who conducted the “study” you are referring to because most likely and 9 times out of 10 the results are skewed towards that parties view points. They will keep data that proves their point and disregard most of the data that does not meet their needs.
The point is when everyone starts hallucinating about some right they have it causes big problems. Mainly because it is NOT a right to begin with, notice the keyword “hallucinating” because that is what it is.
So you may not like smoking, may want it banned, but you had better be careful what you wish for or one day you will, for a FACT, find yourself on the receiving end of the very same crap you’re trying to pull right now. Except next time it may be that ice cream shop, fast food place, or alcohol itself banned.
And do you know what they will base that on? When the non-smoking ****’s marched against a person right to make their OWN choices…

I think I understand you, but the line I highlighted goes against the rest of it. I agree there isnt a need for smoking in a restaurant. The law here in FL actually states that the ONLY places that can have smokers inside are the bars that do not sell food. Which is fine, but a lot of those sports bars that I go to sell food....so it's a bit of a problem sometimes.... people I drink with have had to give up their favorite places they used to drink at....thus the financial loss on the restaurant's part stems from that sort of thing....detured regular customers
