Ford F Series, I guess that includes F250s, 350s, etc? It always seems a little disingenuous to me to compare the whole line of Ford trucks against one of the several GM models. Sort of like comparing Taurus sales against Chevy sales...GM makes several full sized pickups, most of which are awfully similar. If the case is made that they are not similar, then one has to think that the SuperDuty parts of the F series line especially, and to some degree the Supercrew model are no more similar to the basic F150 than are those excluded GM models. What I am saying is that if Ford really dominated, the numbers for the F series should be considerably higher.
Don't get me wrong, I love my Ford and I will never ever buy a GM vehicle again (mediocre is too nice a word). But Ford is not dominating pickup sales, if all the wide variations of F-series pickups are lumped together, and GM's full sized pickups are not.
Just my opinion.

I agree with you there TexasSteve, and have always wondered the same thing. Although, I've always heard F150 was the best seller, but then again the GMC Sierra is the same thing as a Chevy Silverado (with a little different trim and front clip). So, I would be interested in seeing sales numbers for Ford and General Motors half ton pickups.

Umm, aren't the 2500 and 3500 trucks still Silverados? I think the same is for Ram, right? What are the Chevrolet and Dodge competitors for the SuperDuty called?

Same with Dodge.
Really?
Actually, I didn't know all chevy 1-ton and lower pickups were called Silverado. Back when my family had a chevy, Silverado was a trim line, not a model series (like Lariat). I know they changed that only a couple of years ago, but I did not know they call all their pickups "Silverado".
Nevertheless, GMCs, which ARE NOT counted, are mechanically the same as a Chevy, and there is no way, no way, no way an f-250 or f-350 superduty can be considered the same basic vehicle as the f-150 in all of its forms. They are mechanically as well as asthetically completely different. So, if Ford's numbers include them, the comparison is meaningless.
Again, just my opinion. I am not selling trucks, so I guess it shouldn't matter.

When it says F-Series, they count the F-150, F-250, and F-350.
Same for the Silverado, Silverado 1500, 2500, and 3500.
Same for the Ram, Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500.
Ford leads the pack no matter what.

Well, I kinda feel like TexasSteve implied, if you counted GMC Sierra sales, GM would probably be the winner, but I really don't care who sells more trucks. I rarely care what's popular anyway...
I guess it's kinda like when you used to be able to get an M150 in Canada back in the '50's... To me there's no difference in GMC and Chevy...

Actually...the "F-Series" line goes all the way up to F-750 and all the models 150, 250, 350, 450, 550, 650, and 750 are included in this total.
But when counting GM trucks, the Silverado and Sierra, those numbers are just limited to the 1500, 2500, and 3500 models. Their medium duty trucks are called something else, although the name escapes me at the moment.
And yes, if you add the numbers of the Silverado and Sierra, GM has Ford beat by a good margin...especially if you eliminate the F-450 and up trucks.
Here's what I would like to see done with sales number comparisons. Totals should only be comprised of consumer sales (this would exclude government, business, and rental fleet sales), and comparisons should only be made between trucks of the same class.
Categories could be as follows:
F-150 vs Silverado/Sierra 1500 (identical trucks, except for front end design, built in the same factory).
F-250 SD vs Silverado/Sierra 2500 HD
F-350 SD vs Silverado/Sierra 3500 HD

It should be F-150 vs Silverado vs Sierra vs Ram

Yes, but the Silverado and the Sierra are two different trucks. The way you put it would be double teaming Ford.

A GM truck buyer is a GM truck buyer. If for some reason GM decided to do away with the GMC truck line then 99.999% of those buyers would buy Chevrolet. They would not all of a sudden jump ship and go to Ford because the Chevy wouldnt be good enough.
