my dad and i spent 3 years and around 20 grand restoring a 53 chevy 1/2 ton pickup when i was in high school. Its beautiful. Its alot of time and sweat and a few naughty words, but the end result is well worth it.

1967 Austin Healey 3000

You can barely see the project car behind all the crap in bay. It's my retirement project. Hasn't been driven in 16+ years. I've been retired almost 2 years now and the most I've done is check to see if the motor will turn over. (Yes, it does.) Eventually I'll get to it.

Awesome car. My Mom used to race an Austin Healy when she was in college. Hers must have been a '50 something though cause that's when she was going to school. I always wanted to see if I could find one and buy it for her as a "fun" car. Below is my neverending project car.

Your Mother was racing some vintage cars. The first Austin Healeys were built in 1953, the BN1's, and then BN2's till 1955. They looked similar to the one I have. They were true two-seaters, not the psuedo-jumpseat like I have. The first Healey's were built in the mid-40's, the Duncan, Silverstone, tickford-Abbot, and Nash, etc.

If she still had it now, it might be worth a couple of new "L's" and some change.

Funny you should say that Joe, my oldest boy said the same thing. My comment to him was the first time he'll get to drive it is too my funeral. Too much car for a new driver, and not enough safety features to please his Mother.

Nice ride there serotta. I've always liked those.

And, here's the good news...

If it doesn't run when your funeral arrives, he can always ride a bicycle.

So I guess I get to drive it after he dies? I guess I can wait.

1968 Torino GT It took me a couple years but I finally talked my parents into giving it to me last winter. It hasn't run in at least 12 years & my mom can't find the keys. It has all origional miles on it (just over 28,000 if I remember correctly) I'm hoping to start working on it in the spring (I'm going to try to do as much as possible myself). It will be a slow project since the L takes up most of our "play" funds, especially once racing season starts.
