staying windy here.... about 4 hours from the Eye of the storm right now, the wind has picked up considerably... I took a short vid, and I would upload it, except my host is down

I'm off for now, we might lose power soon as it keeps getting windier.

Glad to hear that you're hanging in there. Leave the video to the nuts that get paid to be out there. Stay inside.

Power out, wind down to 30-40mph. Lots of damage. People being rescued from flood waters here in New Bern. My father in law is at his Bass(fish) farm along the pamlico sound and the whole land scape looks more like the sound. Some places with 4'+ in the first floor of homes along the rivers and creeks. My family all seems fine thankfully. Everyone pray for all the folks affected.

I think the worst part of the storm has past now, by 6:00 PM or so the storm should be cruisin out and up to VA. Our power stayed on the whole time, it blinked a few times, but for the most part stayed. (That's pretty good considering there are at least 44,000 people around here that do NOT have power.)

The vids I mentioned were no more than sticking my head and cam out the door, I wouldn't go out and be dangerous like many people.

I don't think anybody has been killed so far, which is very good, there was a close call though, when a local was coming home from work, turned into her subdivision a large oak crashed on her BMW crushing it, and the police had to cut away the tree and rescue her, but she's OK.

That's all for now folks, hope the rest of you are safe!

where are you bloomquist? My power has just come back on. Much of my family is without power and some have generation giving them the essentials. The water in most areas is higher than it was in Dennis back in 1999, that equates to a lot of flooding. My satellite office is in Bayboro, N.C so all of my patients are probably without power and flooded. I feel very lucky that this storm lost strength this week. This is disastrous as it is, but what could have been is much better left as it could have been.

I ran my route in Raleigh today. WET! WET! WET! SIDEWAYS RAIN! FRIGGIN' WET! Trees and power lines down in places. It hadn't become bad before I left at 2:00 PM for Durham and then Greensboro. Did I mention it was wet?

Oh I see, that witness protection program thing It really could be a lot worse, but when people lose all of the belongings it does not seem worse. A lot of these homes that got flooded also got flooded in 1999. I am sure that the people will respond and rebuild quickly. Everyone up north watch out for the rain associated with this Biaattcchh as she moves north.

Looked pretty nasty on TV last night, and I'm glad so many of you have come through OK.

I'm worried about Raoul. He hasn't checked in since yesterday morning.

Hopefully he's just out rounding up the goats from their hurricane parties.

Well my house was flooded in 1994 with Hurricane Fran, and then again in 1999 with Floyd, so we came out lucky this time.

400,000 people in Virginia are without power, that means that the odds of Raoul not having power is 3 to 1, meaning he'll probably check back in when the power gets back on, after he finishes herding the goats through the mud, anyway.

I'm glad you guys made out well north of Raleigh bloomquist. It was rough being out and about today and talking to folks that had water damage. Make me feel very fortunate to have minimal damage. Lots of trees down and many folks still without power, but the water damage is the worst. I know there are folks feeling those water effects up the coast and I wish everyone well. Please everyone be safe.

Thumbs up

Raoul Online Powered by Honda

Well it's been a week and still no power.
My sister got her power on and let me borrow her generator.
It could be another week for me.
2500 poles snapped.

I took my wife and daughter to the shelter right before all Hell broke loose. I stayed with the dog in the house as the shelters don't take pets. It was like being in a giant bowl of Rice Crispies.
Snap crackle pop, Bandit was scared, he pee'd on the rug twice
(I only pee'd on the rug once)

I still don't know how many trees we lost.
Two hit the house.
In the back they are stacked up five high.
I lost somewhere between 12 and 20.
I have cut two cord of wood this week.
All hardwood Oak, the Pine just bent with the wind and stood back up. The Oak caught it with full sail and came up by the roots with the ground so wet.

I cut an Oak today that had 92 rings. It was 20 years old when our '32 Mother of all storms came through.

Well guys I won't be around much for the next month or so as I have a full plate.
Bect Wishes,

p.s.
Someone called me and the number I got didn't work. Thanks for the concern.
There are out of town electrical workers here.
The ones working my neighborhood are Fort Lauderdale Power and Light. What a coincidence.
