Gas is just an issue of supply and demand. The thing is, demand has finally outstripped supply, so there is no way to get more gas out of the ground (OK OPEC has a LITTLE reserve, but it's less than 10%)

SO! Since supply can't increase, you have to lower demand. You do that by raising prices. Unfortunatly, the US isn't reducing consumption, so price will continue to increase. Note that US consumption isn't the real problem. China is increasing its consumption by huge amounts, that's what has caused the shortage.

My guess is we'll settle around $5/gallon within two years.

My GTO runs pretty good! Sales had nothing to do with stopping GTO production. It was scheduled for three years on this platform when they came out in 04, and that's exactly what they did. It will be back with a new platform in a couple years.

As far as being weak, they normally run low to mid 13's stock. Sounds an awful lot like a stock Lightning to me. The L will win out of the hole with traction, and the GTO wins up top. My GTO is the most comfortable all-around car I've owned.

One wheel peel? Alrighty then. We can line up if you want, and I'll see if only one tire spins.

Neon, that doesn't make any sense at all! By the way, learn to quote so everyone knows who you're talking to.

Now back on track, I'm guessing the prices are going much higher before they lower. And there's a huge difference in mileage between my Lightning and my GTO. I average 18 mpg around town and 22+ on the freeway. The 6 speed Typhoon43 was talking about does much better on the freeway.

So gas cost 2x as much per gallon

Yeah, me too...it usually costs me like $65-$70 per week just getting back & forth form work...I'm averaging about 12mpg commuting to work...this sucks.

think how much things have changed over the last 100 years, from 1906 to 2006, then you think in the next 100 years gasoline powerd cars and trucks will be in museums. im glad im in the generation that can still own and drive these vehicles,so far the price of gas is not going to stop me,not that it does not su_k! but they have us all by the balzs! my truck is not going to sit in the driveway , ill do what i have to , to pay for the gas!

Get rid of the EPA, and any lawsuits filed by PRIVATE companies that might arise from a Government funded refinery and maybe you'll have a point.
