I did the Expy console switch. Probably wouldn't have thought of it without F150 online !

The site enabled me to have the truck built without looking back with any regrets. The 2004 Forum is bustling with activity. Excited new owners helping each other sort through the fact and fiction.
In December of 1998 I decided on a new Ford F150 and found this site. I read for three months, then registered asked some questions, ordered a new truck in March 1999.

I can't remember the user names now but, this site helped me determine how to equip the truck.
5.4
Limited Slip 3.55
factory tow
6 cd changer
sprayed liner

Kind of jealous of all the fun in the 2004 Forum but, the site did so good by me back in 1999, I don't have a valid reason to be in the market.

Hey it isn't fun in there. Most of us are as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.
but we are gaining waay more infomation in that forum than from the dealers, and we will be well informed by the time we make the plunge.
As for me, I did the same thing with my 98. I had a 97 which did the job, but when the OP came up to get a different one (long story) I got exactly want I learned I wanted from this site. I still love this Truck, but there are a few factors that mean it is time to move on. I am planning on moving to 4x4 country (farther north) for one.

I think a lot of people (me included) find the site after they have bought their truck, usually after it develops one of the common ailments.

I'd be interested to know how the truck buying experience was different after being a member for some time. I suspect there are salespeople that wonder what hit them after some members buy their next truck.

I stopped by the dealership and looked over the 2004.
My first impression was, 'This is a completely different truck'.
There is nothing I am able to contribute to that Forum.
It will be interesting to see how this site evolves over the next year or so. Right now, the '04s are confined to that Forum. Soon, signatures will be more important than ever before as two distinct models will be posting in the other Forums.
I can't imagine that they would stay isolated like the Lightnings have.

I never had a Forum 'to hang out in' like the Lightnings or the SuperCrews, heck I didn't even qualify for the V6 Forum!

But, pretty soon I'll have a new Forum I can hang out in with 40,000 of my closest friends, PRE-2004 Models !

HAHA, I've alway's thought before I had this truck about all the other vehicle owneres when a new model came out to replace thier current model, and wasn't sure wut they thought. Now, I like the new 04's but still think my ol 99 still looks great and I'm very content with it for the time being (time being when the 05-06 L comes out mine will be gone. )

Oh, the only changes I had before online was the exhaust out the side and the K&N FIPK, since then its been lowering kit, wheels, front, sway bars, etc,,,,

(I would show my sig, but its been erased by an un-named suspect)

Well I havn't done anything to my truck yet, of course I've only personally owned it for a month now. This site is great though, I know exactly what I want how much it will cost and everything in between and around. This site is the greatest.

Cool

This forum has got to be the best resource available for the F-150. If it's been done, you can read about it here.

Here's what the members of this place have caused me to purchase, in no particular order:

Chrome Replica Lightning Wheels
Kuhmo 285-60-18's
Chrome Nerf Bars
SuperChip
Granatelli MAF & Cold Air Induction Kit
JET TBI Spacer
ASP Pulleys
Gatorback Belt
Gibson Extreme Dual Exhaust
Edelbrock IAS Shocks
Hellwig Rear Sway Bar
TransGo Shift Kit
MaxiKool XL Tranny Cooler
B&M Remote Tranny Filter & Drain Plug
Flex-A-Lite 270 Electric Fan Kit
Silverstar Headlamp Bulbs
AutoMeter Gauge Pod With Transmission Temp, Water Temp & Oil Pressure Gauges
Factory Ford Auto-Lamp Mod
Alpine CDA-9813 CD Receiver
Alpine XM Radio Receiver
RAAMat
ARE LSII Lid
Bugflector II Bug Deflector
Weathertech Vent Visors
Back-Up Lights

Thanks a lot, guys. If I hadn't spent all that on my truck, I coulda' bought a rice-rocket !!

Poked around here for about a month before I bought my truck while waiting for my Cobra to sell. After reading this site, by the time I got my truck in the garage, I already had a 1715 Microtuner waiting for it!
