I couldn't agree more with that statment. But on SportsCenter, Sammy's seems to be saying its the medias fault for blowing this all out of control
Looks like Sammy needs to re-think his stand

And as far as the bat comments go. Yeah, I see the need to have "different" bats, but why must they be personal bats?
Why not let the club provide the wood?

O, thats right, big FAT personal contracts with the bat makers!
Better yet, just let MLB provide the bats, that way they have control of the bats and things like this will not happen again. I hope.

One last thing.........Put Charlie Hustle in the Hall

Yeah, that's the take I saw as well Gator. Total BS...

I say we line him up on the backstop and hit pepper at him from a distance of about 5'. That'll teach him. ROFL

Agreed, but we each get to use a corked bat for the pepper session. Oh the heck with it! We're not professional players. Break out the aluminum bats!!!!!!!!. I'll take mine in 34" / 32oz please.

Some of y'all don't seem to understand.... A bat is very important as to how the batter bats! Everone needs a lightly different one depending on how small/big/heavy/etc they are....

BigDeal: Could you imagine barry Gonds batting with an aluminum bat? Think of the noise it'd make if he hit a homer I hate batting with aluminum bats because the weight of them bats are too evenly distributed, and they make too much noise.

Oh and an additional comment about playing during rain-

Baseball teams DO play during rain. They onyl stop when it gets really heavy so you can't see. I was watching the RBaves the other night and it rained for the first couple innings in Atlanta and they still played. Do you think you'd be able to see much less hit a 90+ MPH pitch when it's pouring rain? How about the fielders 100 to 400 feet away, do you think they'll be able to see if the ball is hit? no! How about the catcher? Would he be able to catch the pitch? No!

And more compalints to make about Baseball? (BTW Allk the murders etc are on the football teams, not the baseball. yeah there was a theif on the yanks who was stealing from his teammates but that's just what yanks do.)

Okay Bloomquist, knock off the Yankee stealing jokes. I mean it is a locker room, they all look alike, just an honest mistake..... He put it all back right after he was caught!

A few of you other guys, I do have to disagree on one small point. Pete Rose does belong in the Baseball Hall Of Fame, BUT not until after he comes clean about all his gambling including betting on baseball. Charlie Hustle will get there, it will just take a little more time.

I know you were Bloomquist, just picking at it a little. Doesn't seem to matter how much a person makes, if they are a thief, they will steal! I think Ruben ended up donating the money he made from it to charity didn't he? But, if he didn't get caught, he would have kept it for sure.

I wasn't suggesting major leaguers use aluminum bats. It was just a joke in the whole "beat Sammy hard" context of the thread.

As to your comments about aluminum bats, I wish I could send you to the batting cages with the aluminum bat I finished playing college baseball with (what seems like many, many years ago now). You'd find no loud ring when you hit the ball, just a crack very similar to a wooden bat. The only difference would be that the ball would travel much faster away from the bat. Not all aluminum bats ring. As a matter of fact, some of the best ones make very little moise at all. I have however noticed that almost all softball bats ring like the bell on the ice cream truck! Just an FYI.

Dumbass me, all this time I thought it was how you played the game, that got you into the Hall of Fame (NHL-MLB-NFL)
Not your off-the-field exploits:
I mean, doesn't the NFL, have a "slasher" in the Hall of Fame?

And if it was up to me, Juice wouldn't be there either. I agree you have to qualify on the field, but there should also be minimum standards for a public figure/roll model and human being. I really see your point, but I personally have a hard time explaining to my 9 and 11 year old that it's okay to do things that are against the rules and still get rewarded for it. That goes for Pete, OJ, and Martha Stewart.

Excellent point and I stand corrected.

So why does the corker only get 8 games and the standard is/was 10 games
