Wooo-Hooo! I made straight A's!

I thought I'd tell everyone I made straight A's this semester in my Electronics classes in college. This is the first time in my life I've ever made all A's, except for maybe once elementary school. I'm sooo excited! I missed making all A's the semester before last, by making two B's. But you can't be perfect all the time I guess. I finally found something I'm good at. I just hope it goes this well when I get a job in the Electronics field.

I can't remember the last time I have gotten B's in a class in college. Out of my last 11 quarters, I have probably gotten only 7 or 8 B's. All the rest have all been A's. What is bad is that I do better in the electronics classes than I do in the general education classes. I am on a borderline between an A and a B in Humanities, but have A's in my 2 major courses. I have went like 6 straight quarters with high honors awards, which is a 3.8 GPA or higher.

Don't worry Peacemaker, you will get there. Just do what you did this time around and before you know it, you will get A's all the time.

As for the electronics field, it is a tight market. I am almost done with a bachelors degree and right now I am unemployed and having a hard time getting a job. I have restrictions because of school, but there are good jobs out there, but you will just have to find them.

Glad to hear your doing well paulv107. I hope you can find a job. While we're on that subject, I was thinking maybe working with a major telephone company like Bell South or AT&T. I'd like to stick with the bigger companies considering they pay more than the smaller one's do. I have a friend in NC who took the same classes that I'm taking right now, and he is working for Bell South. I think he started out at like $21 per hour or something like that, and he is making a little more than that now. He told me all I have to do is pass the written test and they'll problably hire me. Other than that, the only other job I'd like is working for a major automaker (Preferably Ford btw) in their factories, as an electronics technician. It'll problably pay a little more, but that's wishful thinking I guess. Like you said, the jobs are out there. It's just hard finding them. Good luck to you finding a job. I know you will, it's just a matter of time.

Congrats! I only take 1 class a semester since I work full time & have a 15 month old (my work pays for my classes) but I pulled off a B+ in Cost Accounting. I thought for sure I was getting a C+, B- if I really pulled the extra credit points off.

Getting into the big 3 can be tough. If I remember correctly you have to go in as an assembler then go through apprenticeship to get something in the skilled trades depts (which I believe electrical falls). This could be wrong, I'm just trying to remember from what my hubby has told me.

Awesome peacemaker. I've nvever got all A's at College yet. Each semester I've had 1 or 2 B's that pulled me down. I'm kinda in your same boat. The General ed stuff sucks and thats wut normally pulls me down. I normally do good in my Business classes and do well in my Accounting classes even though they are a bit tougher I alway's enjoy them and learn a great deal. I also feel as though my Accounting professors will have the greatest effect on my life through education.

Thanks everyone for congratulating me for my grades. I feel kinda "nerdy" now that I made all A's. rdy2rac with, I asked my teacher about that and he said that I "could" become an apprentice, but he also said I could go straight into the electronics biz and make the big $$$. He advised me to go striaght into it, instead of becoming an apprentice. PhillipSVT, you can get all A's. I know you can. My biggest problem when I first started college was that I was going to fail. I thought I couldn't do it. I worried and worried all through the semester. At the end, I thought I had about a borderline "D". But when my grades came out, I had made 3 A's and 2 B's my first semester. All that worrying, and for what? I had myself believing that I couldn't do it. Boy was I wrong. I think what got me through that semester was that I kept trying to hard. But that trying pays off if you do it long enough. Ok, the next semester comes up, and I think maybe if I just quit worrying about my grades and study hard and "don't worry about it", I'll do just fine. You know what? Things turned out just fine. I have convinced myself that I can do it, or anything else I put my mind to. And you or anyone else can o the same thing.

Several people in my class stress themselves out over trying to get homework done and about taking that test. They study so hard for a test, that when the test comes around, they forget half the stuff. And they start going crazy because they may not have gotten a good grade. Waiting until the last minute to do a homework assignment or studying for a test to "cram" it all in will get you in a hole faster than you think.

I have found that I cannot learn that way. When I have a homework assignment that takes a long time to do, I will do a little bit at a time. And if I get stuck on a problem, I will put it to the side and go to the next instead of pounding my head on the desk or start cussing at the book. Many times the part that I was stuck on will show up in the next problem that may make it easier to understand. People at school always ask me how I can not study and still get good grades. I just tell them that I try and do the best that I can and the grades will be there. I have ran into stuff that I didn't know, but I got help from others and then I understood. Don't be afraid to ask for help if needed.

One question, what area of electronics did you just get done studying?

Thanks 01.

paulv107,

My last semester I took:
1. Devices and Circuits I
2. Devices and Circuits I Lab
3. Devices and Circuits II
4. Devices and Circuits II Lab
5. Blueprint Reading

The 1st semester I took:
1. AC Circuits
2. AC Circuits Lab
3. DC Circuits
4. DC Circuits Lab
5. Technical Algebra

I should be taking microprocessors I and II with a Lab in each. And another Math class next semester.
