My wife's dad just went through a triple bypass, and some other operation that almost killed him.

Once he was able to speak, we were talking with him during a visit.
His exact words were ...
" Ya know, it's these doctors that should be making the big dough, and not the hockey players and actors"

Thinking back about what he said, I would have to agree.

You can only blame the public for making them so popular.

 

most doctors i know knock down some change, $200,000 plus. the people who are really getting boned are the school teachers, next to parents they probably have the most impact on kids, they are our future.

 

its the American way.. I dont begrudge them a penny.. they have found a way to earn it in our system.. if your boss came to you tomorrow and doubled your pay, would you turn it down? heck no..
I know a lot of folks that begrudge docs what they earn.. until they are sick then its "only the best and spare no expense" then they get the bill and wonder why it costs so much..

I may get flamed on this but this is what capitalism is and it works..sure there are a few on there that make a lot of cash, but there are a lot of folks out there that do ok and we are the richest country in the world.. if you dont know that just go to some third world place and you'll see.. even our poor folks have TV, phone and cars...

 

I agree with you, but this statement is wrong i.e. .
As long as they are spending some of that money - that make capitalism work. Micheal Jordan was always a cheap a$$ when he came to Vegas (as far as tipping)

 

that statement is correct.. check the facts... its absolutely amazing.. but its true.. now it doesnt account for a lot of other things they dont have but its a true statement.. did you also know that one third of the wealth in this country is held by the elderly.. they dont have a lot of cash but they do have their homes, etc..
remember the poor are those that live below the poverty line and those folks do have what I said.. weird but true

 

DOH! why did you have to post that? I did George Lucas and put in my measley 6.00/hr sweating my a** off on a roof somewhere laying shingles or working for the street dept. laying asphalt and forming/pouring sidewalks. It sucks how some of the hardest working people get paid the least. Oh well im only 19 and im in college so hopeuflly ill be making 125,000/hr like Lucas is.

 

Geesh... that makes me sick.

True, but it's also gotten to the point where the public doesn't have much of say in it.

ie - a movie comes out that looks really good and you want to see it based on that and you go see it b/c you think it looks interesting, not to help the actors/directors salary which turns out to be a side affect. Kinda no way around unless you give up on the movie period.

 

OK. Everyone that blames the public ... WAKE UP !!!!.. You are the public!!

What is sad is most of these high dollar people donate less than 0.1% of their income to a charity that actually gives more than 10% to the ones' truly in need .

People that donate the most percentage-wise are the ones that make less than 200k annually and less than 40k annually donate the highest percentage of annual income (which most of them can't write off on taxes). Now that's sick!!!
