Is a V10 SD quicker than a 5.4l F150?

Would what be quicker, the V10 F250 or the 5.4l F150? Does the extra power make up for the weight?

Thanks

Let me tell you, my V-10 can GO! It hauls!!! I think the V-10 would smoke a 5.4 V-8.

It depends on more than just the engine and the weight of the trucks. What gear ratios are we talking? Who's driving? Auto or manual transmission? There are more factors to look at.

That being said....my former V-10 would SCOOT and did in fact run off and leave many a F-150.

don't know, but

all my brothers have chevy extended cab Z71's; and were neck and neck when drag racing. they laugh a little at me, until it's time to hook up to a trailer; then it's always, can we use your truck? lol so i get the last laugh. Mine's the 99 version, and i know the 2000's have more HP and torque, but it can't make much of a difference. Besides, i didn't buy mine to race, i bought mine to haul trailers and go off roading, and mine does that better then any of their chevy 1/2 tons..

Re: don't know, but

I'd give the nod to the F150 5.4
I traded in my 99 F150 for the 02 F250
they both have the 5.4
the f150 was allot quicker
And I've run my brother in-laws 01 V10 with my 02
Were both S/C with long beds
I have a 4:10 and he has a 3:73 and there both auto's
from a dead start to 80 he only had 2 truck lengths on me.

Humm... a Lightning is a F150 5.4

Thought these were trucks? I didn't buy a 4x4 heavy weight to drag race, no experience here

Hehe - both good points Okie. I would agree with you - can't remember the last time I have seen a top fuel SuperDuty in the NHRA.

Cool

My truck felt a tad stronger then the 01 F250 SD 4x4 long bed reg cab when I was doing the test driving. It had the V10 and auto w/3.73 like mine, and was an XLT. Keep in mind that they were both unloaded, and I was just measuring seat of pants acceleration. But, as said, these are trucks. I know mine is a towing and hauling sumbitch, and a V10 SD would do it even better. What really matters is when you hook a load to it or in the back of it.

Okie drn and JDMnar---dont get bent but the diesel truck races are set for Late OCT here in Houston area..The nations fastest diesels are going to be here...I will post some times after wards(the V10 people always like that)...

We get together with the Lightning club all the time for dyno's and track running and it is fun to see the Lightning guys faces when the PSD's keep up with them...I am not saying we beat the L's but we do have some 12 second PSD's here..

I will have some pictures to post...

Mach1,

Understood, but I would have to assume that he was talking about stock vs stock. I am sure if money was no object, and I wanted to be able to shred the tires off of my V10, I probably could. However, that isn't why I bought this truck, because I could throw a little bit of money into my '67 Mustang and get there a lot quicker! I got this because it is a truck, and will meet my needs in terms of hauling and getting me off the beaten path. I don't much care how quick I get there. If you want a go-fast 3/4 ton, more power to you.

Well - we certainly appear to have a very definitive answer! Sounds like the V10...
