Is there any way to get engine hours from a 2004 ford super duty ? It's a gas 5.4L.

It should be stored on the PCM, though I don't think its something that pops up right away when you hook up a scanner. Its something the tech will have to dig for.

Mileage Matters More

Actual mileage matters more. Do you suspect that it was a truck that sat idling??? I know guys that have bought trucks at auctions from highway maint. depts that sat idling more than the miles put that were put on them. (most were gas trucks). They have all had good luck with them because they were well maintained. I idle my diesel for long times in the winter - it uses hardly any fuel and stays warm. Also it does no damage to the body. Not like salt, mud and snow (we had 9 inches last nite) around here. Good luck.:santa:

On my '08 you can hit the reset button and do a system check. One of the things it gives is engine hours.

Thats an 08 and newer option. I don't think the 05-07 trucks could see that or not. I was trying to look at that on my 07 work truck the other day and couldn't bring it up. I know that the 04 and older (old dash cluster) for sure can't see it that way. The only way would be if the PCM logs it.

You can see it on the 2005+ trucks if they have the info center in the dash.

Ya, would it be hours the engine is actually running, or just hours that the ignition is "ON"?

Yep you're right. I took another look another look on my 07 truck today and it does show the engine hours on the center digital display.

Mine spent 30 minutes trying to pull 1 loaded peanut wagon out of a wet waterway the other day. The 5 miles I put on the truck during that time were actually recorded on 100 yrds of spinning @ 20mph in 2nd gear low range. And 1/2 of that was in reverse!

My truck has 11,600 miles on it, and is right at 300 hours. That means that I am averaging right at 39 MPH for the two years I have had the truck.
