2008 Ford f250 6.4 diesel

Just bought a new diesel, and have a few questions;

1.) Diesel exhaust filter (DPF), can they be cut out and have no issues?
2.) Which tuner to use? is the bully dog Triple Dog GT tuner any good?
3.) Which intake to use? what are people using to get the most outta there truck? have always had k&n but tired of paying for it
4.) The trucks ECM, will chippin this truck cause warranty issues?

thanks,
chad

It will set a code if it is removed and not eliminated in the ECM programing by a programer.
2.) Which tuner to use? is the bully dog Triple Dog GT tuner any good?
Spartan has been the popular choice for the 6.4 crowd for the DPF delete, exhaust and tuning.
3.) Which intake to use? what are people using to get the most outta there truck? have always had k&n but tired of paying for it
If you are not going to make over 500hp leave it alone
4.) The trucks ECM, will chippin this truck cause warranty issues?
Yes it will void the warranty if the dealer catches you. Ask your dealer if they are mod friendly because if you take it to them with out a DPF on the truck you will be SOL.
thanks,
chad
My answers are in bold.

If you cut out the DPF and leave it as-is, your truck will go into a constant regen mode.

Bully Dog is crap.

Go with a K&N if you'd like to dust your turbos.

For the warranty, anything other than STOCK FoMoCo parts on that motor will void the warranty, unless you either have a good friend in the service department or return the truck to stock before taking it in for ALL service.

I've seen alot of DPF eliminating or bypassing but dependant on your state etc, the emmisions cops will nail you. It's fine for a while but if you ever need it cleaned, let me know. I'm in the midst of starting a business cleaning these things. Way cheaper than replacing them, something like $4500 cdn.

All I can add is:

K&N = GREAT for normally aspirated motors, gas & diesel (though most diesels are turbo aspirated)

BAD for turbo-diesels (per Zaairman's post)

I have heard most turbo-diesel guys stay with the factory air filter element

any modification of the exhaust from the back of the turbo to the tail pipe is considred a federal offense. you can thank those stupid EPA bastards for ruining the diesel motors. my dad has a 2008 6.4 and were lucky of we can get 12 MPG out of it.

there is a guy in my area that did put dual 5'' exhaust on a 08 6.4 and about $5000 worth of programing in it and gets 23 MPG doing 70 down the intersate pulling a toy hauler

Those DPF are such a load of crap. To be required by law is just assinine.

They save the enviroment... By shoveling tons of FUEL into the exaust and burning it.

I'm looking into diesels, but I'm going pre-DPF years.. Atleast it saves some money.
