150 or 250 diesel??

I just pulled out my window sticker, and the diesel engine is a $6895 option listed right on the sticker. Mine is a Job 1 truck. I just went to the Ford site and it's still a $6895 option. If your truck was only $4000 less, then I would guess that your truck has more options than that diesel did. If it truly was only $4000 more for the diesel, than you should have jumped on it because that's a $17,000 engine under the hood.

i have a 6 inch lift on mine with 35's and i get about 12.5-13. My speedometer isn't recal'd yet though. I drive it easy and go about 70-75.
The powerstroke upgrade is about 7k with the auto tranny stacked on top of it for about 9k total.
It isnt a cheap upgrade, but if you are going to spend all of that cash on a truck might as well get what you want. Diesels are great engines that will last you a long time if you take care of them. The 6.4 has more stock horsepower and torque than any of the previous models, just with the added headache of the emissions equipment.
If you get a 250, i would get the diesel, but different strokes for different folks (yes that was a pun)

asides from the emissions junk and the mileage, i like the 6.4. Ive been in a 7.3 as well and i prefer the 6.4. THe 7.3 sure sounded a lot manlier, but the 6.4 feels like its got more in it, stock. Ive never been in a 6.0.
Regardless, moving to a turbodiesel from a 5.4 gasser was a huge change.

The reason it's 'only' a $6800 option is that Ford (well...Navistar) mass produces the engine and the cost is absorbed in the entire package of tens of thousands of trucks.

That's $6800 MORE than the price of a 5.4L engine. I guess you think that since the V10 is only a $600 option, that you could buy one for $600?
Hell, the fuel injectors on the 6.4L engine cost $900 each...that's $7200 just in fuel injectors!
