150 or 250 diesel??
im going to be buying a truck soon and for some reason i have started to want a 250 diesel instead of a screw 150. i will pretty much only use it on the weekends because i have a company truck for work during the week. it will be used to go back and forth to camp pulling trailers of corn and cabbage and four wheelers, a skid steer once and a while. pretty much just my weekend worker. i like the look of the 150 but i also have been noticing a lot of 250 on the road(probably since i have been thinking about it more) and like that look as well. i would appreciate it if you guys with diesels could give me some insight on this and give me your opinions. either way i go i will without a doubt grab a lift and bigger tires. thanks.

Is there a diesel F150???...just kidding, there isn't one yet!
The diesel is THE choice if you are specifically towing and hauling heavy loads, but requires a bit more attention when operating in cold weather (like in the UP)...
This is general info...you mention a lift, are you going to be off-roading some?
If you like a gasser but want better power and capabilty you might consider a V10 also....

If you plan on towing, the F250 is the way to go. You won't even know the trailer is there. As far as engines go, either the diesel or the V10 will serve you well. Diesel fuel usage is not affected by towing as much as the V10 fuel usage is, but it sounds like you won't be towing that much. Go drive both and see which one you like better. Diesel is definitely not for everyone.

i would say get the f250 diesel i have a 07 f150 5.4 and a 06 6.0 powerstroke and i would much rather drive the stroke i love the power it has compared to the 5.4 f150 stomp the pedal and itll actually put you back in the seat.
i have seen a lot of people complain about the fuel milage on the new 6.4 diesels some as low as 8 mpg thought about trading in my 06 at one point on a new one but could never afford the fuel for one. but if i had to chose between another 07 f150 and a 06 stroke i would have another stroke without a doubt.

BTW - 16 MPG is only seen when driving 65 MPH on the interstate. If I go over 65 MPH, the fuel mileage starts to drop. At 80 MPH, I drop back down to about 13 MPG. Getting there sooner comes at a price!

I consistently get 13 MPG around town and 16 MPG on the interstate and I have 20" rims and 35" tires. If someone is getting 8 MPG, then they either have a lift and HUGE tires or they drive it like they stole it. Now, I am not saying that 13 MPG is good, but it certainly is not anywhere close to 8 MPG.![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://www.f150online.com/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)

i have a 6 inch lift on mine with 35's and i get about 12.5-13. My speedometer isn't recal'd yet though. I drive it easy and go about 70-75.
The powerstroke upgrade is about 7k with the auto tranny stacked on top of it for about 9k total.
It isnt a cheap upgrade, but if you are going to spend all of that cash on a truck might as well get what you want. Diesels are great engines that will last you a long time if you take care of them. The 6.4 has more stock horsepower and torque than any of the previous models, just with the added headache of the emissions equipment.
If you get a 250, i would get the diesel, but different strokes for different folks (yes that was a pun)
