Ford once again is changing their diesels and gas engines in the superduties.

New diesel will be a 6.7 twin turbo and the 5.4 gas will be replaced by a 6.0. Anybody heard of this yet? I was talking to a person who works on the launch team at work and he told me of the new engines.

 

Yeah the new diesel hasn't exactly been a secret. I guess you have been under a rock for the last year or so. Ford and Navistar have been going around and around over warranty costs from the 6.0L.

Cliff Notes:
Ford: You haven't paid your fair share of the warranty costs on the 6.0L
Navistar: BS yes we have
Ford: Fine we'll sue
Navistar: Lets see you build trucks without engines
Federal Judge: Ford you pay, Navistar you give them engines and now both of you ****.
Ford: Fine we'll build our own diesel
Navistar: Fine then we'll sue over breach of contract
Ford: Who cares we'll go bankrupt anyhow.

Ford has made no secret about the development of a new diesel (supposed to be called the Scorpion or some such BS). The engine is slated to be ready for release for MY10, but the Navistar contract runs until MY11.
