Requesting info/advice on 08 250 King Ranch

So I've been in the market for a 1/2 ton truck and planned on purchasing in November after I got married.

Well a buddy of mine threw a wrench in the works and offered me his 08 250 KR for dirt cheap in the off-season. So now I have research to do on the truck. I know it's way more truck than I need but I would be crazy to pass up the offer.

Can I get some guidance as to where to research message boards, seems this one is more geared towards the F150 where I can get some opinions from owners as to how they feel about their truck (pros & cons), where to look up aftermarket parts, suspension, etc. He has the Diesel engine, which I know nothing about.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks!
Jeremy

I completely understand that, it is insane these days, BUT, getting the truck with 6k miles on it for $20k makes up for the expensive fill ups. If it ever does get to be too much, I can sell the truck for more than I paid.

I'd say go for it. Around here people are still buying diesel pickups like there's no tomorrow.

For advice on this topic, head to thedieselstop.com. Great forums there with alot of knowledgeable guys who likely know more about diesels than anyone should .
Head to the 08 and up section, and try the general or FAQ sections.

Yeah, beauty of having a buddy in the NFL......losing money on a truck to a friend isn't too much of a concern.

Diesel is currently more. My diesel truck currently gets better MPG than my 5.4 150 got (and it gets it no matter what I am pulling or carrying!).
Diesel could become cheaper (or even more than it is in relation to unleaded now). Buy what *you* like and what *you* want. Anyone that says that is stupid and uses some lame, 2nd grade level, smiley should print their smiley out on paper and use it for a different purpose

I love my 08 diesel. It is at least the same speed, if not faster, than my 03 5.4 F150 was AND I get slightly better MPG. I love it
(and mine was a good bit more than $20k !!!!!!)

Don't they start at like $50k? You're getting basically a brand new truck for less than half price. I would be all over that deal in a heart beat. Congratulations!

What kind of MPG's do you get with mixed driving? I've had a couple trucks in my life, one being a Dakota R/T that got me like 10 mpg so I figure even if I lift it on 38's it shouldn't get much worse than that.

I've been wanting to hear from an 08 KR owner, and I wanted to hear good things, so thank you.

Like I said in the original post, it's a completely different, and a lot more truck than what I've been looking for so I've got a lot of research to do on it, although I've pretty much made up my mind I'm going to take the offer. Only problem is I can't get it for awhile.

Yeah that's what I've been trying to ask everyone I know. For this price, I would be dumb to pass this deal up, wouldn't I? If it didn't work out, I could trade it in and STILL get more than what I paid for it.
