Dodge is improving, the basic mecanicals of the truck are rock solid, Don't get a automatic with the cumins, you have more control with a six speed, I'm not a fan of the Dodge interior or the paint quality, or the looks of the truck, but for truck stuff, I'm more than impressed with my 06 2500 SLT, I bought the best truck I could that was with in my budget and have no complaints.

A 2500 with the hemi and six speed is a power house and my truck is dam good on gas ( high way ) and the stright six cumins will never die

I don't have pics but the Heavy duty Rams that compete with the F-700 are now made by Stearling ...

They uh, go out. Not enough line pressure basically. Start to tow a lot and add a few mods, and its just begging to go out.

So I might go another route, I really f=don't want a manual tranny ia a truck, I do like manual tranny in a sport car.

I think th ebest bet is to get a SD with a 7.3L

I'm planning in keeping the truck for a long time, so I don't want to have tranny ploblems in the near future.

I'm honestly looking for the most reliavle truck out there.

I ordered a 2007 F150 and canceled the transaction, let see what I can find, IMHO I don't know what route to take.

Any more suggestions will be greatly appreciate it

Find me a 7.3 with the 6 speed and 4x4 and I'll trade you my auto PSD. Really. I like the auto, but want a 6 speed in a bad, bad way.

If you get a 7.3L you're going to be getting a higher mileage truck most likely. If you're lucky you'll find one down around 50k, but most will be closer to 100k now. You're buying an auto with 100k on it and it'll have issues. The manual comments I made earlier applies to both Dodge and Ford. I'd say Chevy as well, but they don't even offer one anymore. Unless you are prepared to dump upwards of $4k into an auto trans, get the 6spd and be done with it. A clutch is a heck of alot cheaper to replace.

God I hate myself already for typing this. But the new bow tie 2500's are out. That is a better choice if you ask me. D/A combo is hard to beat. I'll say it again and again, put a CTD in a F250 Body with an AT and you will have yourself the best truck in the solar system.

I love the look of the 08 F250's but my next truck (please don't dog pile me) will probably be a Chevy HD 2500.

Agree with other posters here, the Dodges are just too full of plastic but then again they all are but others beside Dodge seem to integrate it better.

Damn, did I just say that?

I found a few f350's with manual tranys on the net, now remembering aboaut 10 years ago I was driving my fathers company f350 with manual trany and it was not bad at all to drive such a big pick up with the manual trany.

Powestroke, like you said most of them have around 90k miles on them. I like to get a dually crew cab 4x4.

Do you guys have some web site's that I can use to search for this trucks?

Ditto.

And I did sleep on my post....let me rephrase...I am going to consider a D/A 2500 as my next truck but it's not in stone. I am Ford guy..Fords are the only trucks I have ever owned.

im not sure but the new SD is capable of towing 24,000lbs, now i really doubt that you will need to tow that amount but the GM HD's tow about 16,000lbs,
i would wait until ford gets the expected bugs out of this SD or maybe even dump Navistar all together and start using either volvo, themselves, or maybe even CAT, until then get a used 7.3L they are pretty good

i don't know how much the new dodges tow but they have a GVWR of 24,000lbs which you minus that by the wheight of the truck to get how much it can tow

the ford has a GVWR of 33,000lbs, i know that is on a F450 but still that is insane

the F350 tows around almost 19,000lbs thats pretty damn good too

For my purpose I can get away with a F250 but I like to get a F350 dually because I like them, this is what I had a few years ago and loved it. But only had it for a year.

BTW what is the towing and GVWR capacity of the f350 with the 7.3L?

What important things should I look and pay attention when buying an old f350 (2002 0r 2003). I will take in consideration a manual tranny.

Thanks again for the input guys
