Diesel will have better gas mileage. V10. Gas? Forget about it.

If you can front the extra funds to pay for a diesel, go for it. You wont regret it.

The 5 thousand dollar up-charge for the diesel will buy lot's of gas.

Besides, the V-10 won't wake the neighbors nor require gallons of oil for the scheduled maintenance.

Get the V-10.....you won't regret it.

Ok, qualified post time....

Big towing? Lot's of highway cruzing? Diesel will be a great choice.

Daily driving with stop and go? Crazy diesel prices in your area? 6.8L or even the 5.4L are a great choice.

Same service intervals as a gasser, but everything is just more $$$. 15quart oil changes, 18dollar oil filters, more expensive Mercon SP fluid for the 5R110 tranny, and right now diesel fuel is the same as premium around here.

However the PSD is a kick *** motor and I smile everytime I fire up the ole 7.3L. The 6.0 is a nice runner too from all the ones i've driven.

So it comes down to you, but I can say for sure if you want a diesel just to be "cool" and gettin it for image, thats just stupid.

Buy the diesel 'cause you need the power and torque. Don't buy it on the basis that they're cool, they're fun to drive (admittedly, they are), they sound cool, they get better fuel mileage, whatever. If you don't wind the diesels up and work 'em hard like they were designed for, you're gonna have problems with 'em.

I like my PSD 6.0. No v10s were around in S. Jersey or the Philly area. My 250 4x4 diesel weighs 7500 lbs and gets better mileage than my 4.6 F150 4x4. It can wake the neighbors and having a conversation in it can be noisy. If you don't need the torque for pulling get the V10. But I plan on pulling a 14,000 lb fifth wheel cross country so I got the diesel. An oil change in the diesel is also 15 quarts.

I went with the V10 over the diesel. The diesel was just to noisy for me, and the V10 runs pretty good also.

Hi Derk...

If u really dont need a SD, u certainly dont need a PSD, right? Some get one for the wrong reason's. Be wise & reason this one thru.

Don't fool yourself into thinking your gonna get great mpg unless u can verify first before buying. D. mpg usually better overall VS gas, but ??

If $$$ is important then just crunch the #'s on overall operating costs VS V10. D. fuel cost fluctuates like gas. Usually lower per gal. in summer VS higher in winter. However most of this summer fuel was higher in many parts of country, ouch!

Dont know about 7.3L PSD. 6L PSD dosent like short, stop & go trips. Maybe no problem in so. cal. but it dosent (mine) make cab heat for the 1st 5 miles in really cold weather. Cold operating procedures needed. 6L also maynot make full power till it warms up. Also not good to start cold e. & immediately hit the freeway, remembering the 15+ cold qts. oil it holds.
Chg. oil/o.f. @ 5K regardless of how used. 2 FF @ 15K mi. etc.

Good info. given here by all. Good luck on what ever you decide. OT

Get what you think fits your needs. I debated for a while and purchased the V10 because it fit my needs. I only tow once per month 6 months out of the year pulling ~8,000 lbs. Home to work is 11 miles and I only put ~8,000 miles per year on my trucks. I am on my bike nearly 8 months out of the year. It was not cost effective for me to get the more expensive diesel, plus gas prices in my area have been one of the lowest in the country, but diesel prices did not drop at the same rate.
