Question What do you like and hate about your super duty?

Only about 3 months 'till I get the power stroke. Need help deciding which options are great and which are a waste. Does anyone have problems with cab lights, reverse sensor, power slide rear window, moonroof, etc? Just wondering if there's anything to stay away from while looking? If you have any tips please post. Also, only major diff. between 2-350 is leaf springs right? And major diff. between fx4 and 4x4 is skid plates? Also, what are the diff. levels of xl xlt lariat? I want to find the perfect truck cause I'll be keeping her awhile. Thanks in advance!

FX4 package gets you stickers (which I peeled off), red booted shocks (which I changed due to them being no better than stock), and "skid" plates (ummm, this thing is too big/heavy to be in "skidding" situations).

XL is the basic work truck, XLT is the optioned version of the XL, Lariat gives you the yuppie fluff, and King ranch is for the showoffs. IMHO.

350 will give you stiffer springs and in some cases higher insurance rates than a 250 so do some research if you don't need the bigger numbers to be legal, otherwise they will pull the same.

What do you plan on doing with the truck?

What do I like? It is a gas motor so I am not concerned about the 2700 set of injectors and 1500 turbo that seems to go bad on nearly every 6.0.

What do I dislike? It is a slow pig that sucks gas and the XL trim looks cheap.

The fx4 compared to the 4x4 gives a much stiffer ride. We have both at my work and we hate the ride of the fx4. Not worth it. Go with the 4x4 you will like it better. F350 is better if you carry a lot of weight in the back of the truck or tow a lot with it. We went with two F350 well worth it. Go with the diesel also.

Definetly going with the diesel, that's the reason I want it. Just mainly a daily driver.

We have 3 f-350 duallies at our family business, one is a 97 gas job(just plows snow mabey has 8000 miles) an 00 ext cab with PSD and 110,000 and an 01 Psd with 203,000 miles. I would def go with the dies and crew cabs are nice, they ride nicer with the long wheel base.

My old man has an 06 KR with the 6.0 and he loves it

You can only get the rear sliding window in the Lariat. Then you get leather and heated seats.
The main reason I got the Lariat was for the sliding rear window... a must have for me.
The driver display is only in the Lariat.

Look at both the captain chairs and bench.. then choose. I liked the bench better.

Take a good look at the 20" wheels...they are BIG. I liked the look, but I didn't like the feel of the steering. So I opted for the 18's.

I think the reverse sensor is a waste of $$.
I hate the look of roof lights... to each his own
Moonroof is personal taste and big $$... I don't like them. I will open my power slider for extra, wind free, venting.

The upfitter switches are a good deal for the extra $$

The tow command package with the tow mirrors is a must... even if you don't plan to tow anything...you soon will.. and it's all right there ready to go.
The brake controller is quite good.

Adrian is right about everything he said....except you get something else with FX4, but I forget now.

I use my Lariat for work (construction), so far the leather is easier to care for than my old 04 F150 cloth.

And get the bed sprayed with Line-X

towing mirrors are a must and the backup sensor can go either way. check out www.thedieselgarage.com and they will tell you everything you want to know.

Between the F-250 and F-350 you can really tell when you are towing. The F-350 is solid, the F-250 bounces a lot with the trailer attached.

I like the roof lights, that's a matter of personal opinion though. The reverse sensor, half the time it doesn't even notice what's behind you...such as poles or other small things.

Go with the reverse sensor. It is TOO easy to miss that itty-bitty ricer thingy when you look thru the mirrors to backup. Saved me from running over a toy-o-to 3 days after I bought my truck. He had pulled right up on my bumper, and I couldn't see him thru any of the mirrors or even looking out the back window. Put it in reverse and BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEEEEEEEEEEP. It even goes off when I back up and get too close to shrubs.

Oh yah, to the original question. What I love about it, let see, its a great truck, rides good, tows fantastic, the sound, the interior, etc., etc.

What I don't like about it .... had to clear out my car port to park the darn thing
