F-250 Fuel Gauge problem

Has anyone had problems with the fuel gauge in a 2003 F-250 or a F-350 not reading correctly? Or do you know of anyone with this problem?

Nope I haven't seen anything on any of the other Superduty boards I frequent. Whats your dealer say?

The dealer says that they have tried everything that they can, Ford says that they know that there is a problem, but they don't have a fix for it.

I've got a 2002 F-250, and my gauge seems to get stuck. I haven't menationed it to the dealer. It has about 13K on it. I'd go 100 miles and it won't move, then I'd look at it and it was down a 1/4 tank. Or I'd fill the tank up and the gauge would be fine. the next morning it would read 1/2 full, then a little while later, I'd look at it and it would be reading full. I think it is in the sending unit. BUt your not the only one. George K

This is what mine is doing. You might want to talk to your dealer about it. At 13K you should still be under warranty. They replaced the sending unit, the cluster and the tank on mine and it still isn't right. If you get yours fixed let me know, I'm really frustrated with mine. Thanks for the info.

It is "normal" for the guage to read correctly after about 15min. For instance, if you park on a slope it will take 15 min to read correctly.

i was told to make sure when you fill up with fuel do not have your key turn on
i drive a 2003 f 250 with 15000 miles on it and my gauge hasn't mess up in 5 months
sound weird to me but it works

I have had problems with the guage only reading 3/4 full when the vehicle is topped off, but after a few miles down the road, the gauge slowly begins to makes it way towards the full mark. The only thing in common between the two times that it happened is that I ran the truck very low on fuel before filling up.

My dealer is looking into the problem but has not offered any reply yet.
