Opinions re: ride quality F150 vs. F250
Greetings,
I will be purchasing a new truck soon to replace my 1999 F150 Supercab. I definitely want the super crew in either the F150 or F250. I plan on demoing both before making a purchase decision, but I was wondering if anyone could provide their opinions on ride quality between the two. I am concerned that the solid front axle of the 250 will make for a harsher ride. BTW, I will be getting a 2WD gas burner regardless. TIA. Merry Christmas !

IMO, the 150 is a smoother ride. I am on my second 250, and my dad has a 150. Granted, mine is a 4wd, and his is a 2wd, but I would say that his ride is softer and gentler. However, I wouldn't trade my 250 for a 150 because of the stiffer ride.
I had a 4x4 2001 supercrew, now have 4x4 2003 supercrew F250 PSD I love it, it rides really good, everyone can not belive it rides so good being a big 4x4 ,4 door diesel..... I would never go back. A 2 x4 should ride better. The stock tires suck, to hard replace them and smooth sailing..
Only the 4x4 Super Duty trucks have a solid front axel. The 4x2's have independant front suspension. It is not the same as the F-150 4x2's A-arms and coil springs. I beleive the F-250 4x2's use the older twin I-beam IFS. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I know the 4x4 Super Duties ride stiffer than 4x4 F-150's and I would imagine the same is true with the 4x2's. You've got the right idea, test drive both and decide for yourself. The longer wheelbase of a short bed, crewcab Super Duty may help to reduce the effect of the stiffer suspension, but you need to decide for youself.
ride is better
I had a 2002 f-150 sc fx4, for 5 months , then i ordered my new f-350 cc fx4, and it rides alot smoother than the 150. I am really happy with the ride. My wife says it rides better than her 02 mountaineer. Just my 2 cents
I traded a 2001 2wd screw for a 99 F250 CCSD 2wd with the diesel, and don't regret it one bit. Everyone comments on how well it rides. Of coarse I use my truck as a truck and everyday driver. It not only rides as well as my screw did, but I get better millage solo or towing.

My company car is a 01 Expedition 4x4. It is very comfortable and I like it a lot. My personal truck is 03 F250 crew cab Fx4. The ride isn't much different that I can tell. I think your chief concern would be on what your plans for the truck are; weight, towing, etc.
Just my opinion
How are you going to beat the best riding truck out there...The F150, rides better then some cars...There is no comparision, I own both, although I have modified the SD and it is entirely different(better) THEN STOCK...It does have the twin I-beam, last ford truck to use it...It has MORE comfortable seats then the SCREW...But then I prefer a ride a little on the firm side...(performance oriented)
in my experience an F150 rides better. i have never owned a 250 but i have driven every configuration of 250 and 350 except regular cab. i could feel bumps in the 250 and 350 but when you put a trailer on it rides like a cadillac. not that i really care about the ride, its a truck, let it bounce
I have a '00 F250 CC diesel and it seems to ride really nicely and travles well. I have noticed alittle difference in rides since I added some MT's 315/75/16. It seems to notice the bumps alittle more but still nothing that bad....peace
