2000 Ford Expedition 5.4

I have a leak problem with my cooling system. it is coming from the heater bypass, at least this what it's called when i was told from the dealership when i describe it to them. The part is a metal piece right behind the the alternator and it extends on both sides of the alternator, it is the opposite end of the thermostat housing that is leaking. Today i tried to take it off but no luck, there is 2 screws holding down the thermostat side and 1 on the opposite side where it is leaking. I notice there is about 4 more screws on each end but they're screwed on from the bottom which is upside down. If anyone can please help me out............thanks.....

can you post a picture of what you are talking about?? if you're referring to the coolant crossover then you'll need to remove the intake manifold

Here's the pcture, i beleve it is a separate piece from the manifold. It has been leaking slowly from the bottom. I was told by the dealership that it cost around $200 for this part alone and they said that it could only be an o-ring gasket that needs to be replaced.....thanks again.

I had the same leak on my expedition. I had to replace the manifold and the crossover tube. The plastic intake cracked and the aluminum crossover coroded where the seal sits. It was about $500 in parts. Try getting the intake on ebay. I picked one up for $210. as far as the crossover I can't find one and it's $311 from the dealer. Best of luck with yours.

Hey thanks for the tip, I may have to do the same because the leak is actually getting worse. I checked Auto zone selling it for $255, here it is.

Why did you bring up 2 threads from the dead to ask the same question? We don't bite if you start a new thread and ask a decent question, as long as you provide details.

You have an answer in the other thread you hijacked.
