So my son and I went out and bought a 2004 ford expedition
with a 5.4 L 3v that threw a rod . mind you he's only 15 we got it for $500. His money my question is can I rebuild it or can I take the parts off the 5.4 and put them on a 4.6 that I took out of my lincoln towncar. So my question is can I rebuild my 4.6 with parts off the 5.4 triton

 

Is the 4.6 a 2v engine? What exactly are you planning to use from the 5.4?

 

both head intake fuel rails. Basically everything that I can use I'll have to go out to the shop and check the vin on the town car
but I think it's 3 valve at least that's what my buddy said LOL

 

The Town Car never used the 3 valve. Your swap is feasible, but not easy, and you will need parts that you don't have on either engine.

Absolutely not. He will need 4.6 Expedition intake and exhaust manifolds, and probably some accessories.
