Expy '07 Engine...

Front end takes some getting used to. Here is the full story. (Not sure if I can post the link?) http://www.blueovalnews.com/index.ph..._articleid=125

Overall I'm impressed other than one thing: ENGINE Still the same 5.4L with 300 hp. Yes a new 6 speed auto which I'm trusting perks it up a bit, but only 300 hp? Compare that to all the new engine options available at GM with their new full size SUV's..

Ford 5.4L 300HP (365 ft/lbs tq)

GM/Chevy
4.8L, 290-hp iron block
5.3L, 320-hp iron block
5.3L, 320-hp aluminum block
6.0L, 350-hp iron block, vvt
6.0L, 355-hp aluminum block, vvt
6.2L, 380-hp/400-hp aluminum block, vvt

I suspect we (Ford) will still compete well against the 5.3 as its still lacking real TQ but the 6 and 6.2L will eat us up...

I'm disapointed as any increase in Hp would eventually make it to the F-150 and I need more reason than the 6 speed tranny to trade for a new one... So I'll just keep my 04.

I have heard the the next generation Expy and future f 150s would offer a 6 cyl diesel. Guess not this year. Maybe soon.

I doubt we will see a diesel. The new 6.4 turbo for the SD is going to lead the way. Ford is smart, they know how to market vehicles and make you wait so you have to get the next best thing. Like how everyone is complaining about the scab f-hd should be a screw, etc ...

Just wait

Why the tease? If you're an insider or something, and you can't tell, why even mention anything? If you can say, then please do so. In other words, SPEAK UP!

I was at the grocery store the other day and reading some articles in I believe truck trend or something similar to that, and they were talking about fords v-6 diesel that they already have in production for commerial trucks. They were hinting and talking about how nicely that motor would fit and work in the F-150.

The current navigator has that tranny and it is slower than my F150 so no i dont think the 6 will perk it up. Shifts very smooth though.

Ah, good old TQ management. Give her a good tune and look out, that six speed wakes up I wish we had five or six speeds in these. Sounds like a fun swap!

I dont mean to be an A$$, but what does this have to do with 04+ F150's.

Sooner or later RP will be around, and we will see "Moved to General"

Lets see:
i) I think the look gives us a great hint at any future look of the F-150 after lets say a 07 or 08 "freshening". Seems to be a theme with the lights of this unit and the 07 Edge...

ii) It confirms that the F-150 will have the 6 speed as soon as the '07 model.

iii) It indicates that for 07 its very doubtfull any new engines options will be available.

(apparantly we have to wait for 08?)
