Aftermarket receiver with Mach system?

Anyone have some clear answers as to what problems I would run into putting an aftermarket receiver into a 2000 expy with the Mach system? I have heard you can, you can't, etc. Any help would be appreciated. THanks

Trust me, you are not the only person looking for an answer to this. Unfortunately I have never found anyone that will give me a serious straight answer. I have 2 brand new alpine cd players sitting in the basement going to waste.

Installed it and it works perfectly. It really brings the OEM little sub to life!

Metra 70-5517 is the number.

I think its only for 99-01 Expy's though. My stock radio had the heat sinks on the radio, so I figure only the sub was ampd. Anyhow, works great!

No. The OEM head unit powers the 4 6x8 speakers. The sub is the only thing with a seperate amp. The harness listed above has a rca cable that you plug into your new receivers sub out. Works great.

I used a Pioneer 8600mp.

I would suggest either a Alpine or Pioneer with time alignment/correction. Really helps with the poor speaker location. Brings the image to the center. I wouldn't buy a cd player without it.

Also, There are only a couple of dash kits that will fit if you have the electronic climate control. And they all have pockets. I uses the 99-5802 Metra. I snapped off the tabs that would normally bolt to the analog a/c controls but wont fit on the electronic climate controls.

I tried 99-5801 with no pocket and it won't fit, at least it didn't fit mine. But I also have wood grain on my center trim.

Well not unless you get a special adapter. I think several companies make these adapters.

But with a mp3 capable deck, you get upto 10cds on each disc.

I just called and ordered mine. They said it would work on my 98 too. They said it would be $24.98 with shipping. Does that jive with what you paid? Sounds a little high to me.

Are you getting the oem deck removal tool? Probrably. Its two metal hook looking things that go into the holes on the stock radio. I already had some so I just got the harness which was $14.99 plus 5.99 shipping

I already have them too. I told the guy all I needed was the harness. I already have the mounting kit too because it is the same was the one I took out of my 03 Lightning. The part number on the order confirmation they e-mailed me said it was for a Explorer/Ranger. ???? I called them back and they swear it is the right part for a 98 Expy w/ the mach. I guess I'll find out in a couple days. I don't know if it shows in this pic of my L's interior but that Alpine is the deck I'm going to use.
