Very interesting indeed....

Sounds like a custom job and I doubt they'd ever put out anything to compete with the Eddie Bauer Edition...

Take any snap shots?

No sure didn't..but I'll see if I can get that done for ya. The seats were exactly like the KR seats I've seen for the 04/05 (new) F150.

I dunno iabout the competition aspect. Is the "Limited" Expedition a relatively new trim level?...because that certainly competes with the Eddie.

Sorry...no snapshots yet. But on Thursday 8-12-04 I overheard a conversation with a supplier stating they would be sending in some 05.5 KR steering wheels. Sounds like the KR Expy is a go for 2005.5 MY. Can't wait to see that thing...it should be pretty sweet.

Still no pics yet...SORRY!

However MTP had a 05.5 MY KING RANCH EXPY on display inside the plant. Chrome step bars, KR rims, and (of course) Castano leather. Looked pretty good...but I'm sure its just another reason to charge an additional 5 grand (or more?). The Advance Trac badge on the rear had another moniker attached to it as well....some "RSC" designation...no idea what the RSC stands for....if its there tomorrow I'll snap a pic.

Texas State Fair is All About Trucks
Ford Reaches Potential Customers at Event
By Brad Nevin

DALLAS, Sept. 24, 2004 (FCN) -- When the gates open today at the Texas state fair, more than livestock and agricultural events will stand out. The next big thing at the Texas fair is trucks -- lots and lots of trucks.

At the 2004 Texas state fair, Ford Motor Company debuts the luxurious Lincoln Mark LT pickup truck, the F-150 King Ranch and an Expedition King Ranch concept. Ford also is announcing a significant 2,000 pound increase in Super Duty towing capacity.

Expedition King Ranch
Needless to say, Ford dealers in Texas do not sit around and eat corn dogs all day. Nineteen of the top 100 volume dealers in the nation are from the southwest region, and 30 of the top 100 volume F-Series Dealers in the nation are from the southwest.

“We love the fair,” said Trey Russell, general sales manager at Sam Pack’s Five Star Ford in Carrollton, which is about 15 miles from fair headquarters in Dallas. “We sell probably at least 10 vehicles directly from people going to the state fair.”

One popular area of the Texas fair is the auto show. In just 15 years, the State Fair of Texas Auto Show has grown from an 84,000-square-foot exhibit to a whopping 263,000-square-foot venue that includes two halls, a separate truck section and external displays. It is one of the most popular attractions, drawing 85 percent of the fair’s total attendance.

Compared with the general fair attendees, average household income for auto show attendees is $95,250. The average age is 44, and 76 percent are married. According to a Texas fair survey, 85 percent of the attendees say the state fair auto show is a convenient place to compare products without sales pressure, and 95 percent of respondents were aware of the auto show before they attended the state fair. Bottom line: People who go to the State Fair of Texas Auto Show are able to and interested in purchasing a new vehicle, and judging by their lifestyles and buying record, they like trucks.

From 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., dealers across the Dallas region send representatives to the auto show area to answer product questions and get sales leads. There are two shifts, and each dealer typically sends two to three sales representatives to fill 15 total slots.

“Ford looks forward to the Texas state fair each year because it allows us to showcase our new products at the beginning of the model year, and it allows us to be part of a Texas institution,” said Harold Allen, Ford public affairs manager in Texas.

The first Texas state fair was held in Dallas in 1886. Fair Park was the site of the 1936 Texas Centennial Exposition, which ran for six months and attracted 6 million people. State fair concessionaires Carl and Neil Fletcher invented corny dogs in 1942.

The State Fair of Texas runs from Sept. 24 to Oct. 17.

For great trucks and tasty corny dogs, there’s no place like Texas.
