BTW, i put a transmission in a 4 valve 2001 cobra yesterday. The car hadnt been cranked in over a week and it was real real loud for about a split second. Everyone in the shop looked, haha.
Even the two-valve engines have timing chains to drive the overhead cams. Sounds like typical "dealer speak" to me.

As i said earlier, the difference in the 2V to 4V engines is what makes this noise in a 4V and not regular 2 valve engines.

Im finished trying to help here. If you search and read all my previous posts, you will see i try to help people the best i can from here. If you read the previous posts of the last 2 guys that talked junk to me, you will see they dont contribute much other than stirring people up.

Uh just who is talking junk as you put it. BTW YOU are the one that told us we didn't know what we are talking about. So next time don't start what you can't finish. Have a good day and remember the customer can be right.

No, no, no , i said that yall (with 2V engines) didnt know what SHE was talking about (4v engine) since your engines didnt do this. I never said that anyone didnt know what THEY (meaning themselves) were talking about. I said that you didnt know what SHE was talking about. Maybe i should have worded it better, like instead of "Thats why all yall guys with reg 2 valve engines dont know what shes talking about." i should have worded it "Thats why all yall guys with reg 2 valve engines dont know what shes hearing." Better?

jefflaws,

I was just curious if you could explain further what makes the "blowing" noise that occurs at startup. I know it's a normal thing, but it's just strange that it doesn't happen all the time and doesn't seem to be effected by temperature. It's just one of those things that left me scratching my head.

I couldn't agree more!

I enjoyed reading this topic. Originally, I wanted to see if this Navigator owner was experiencing the same start up noise that I am with my wife's 99 Expy. For the record, I know mine is a 2V and the Lincoln's are 4V. I ended up reading a misunderstanding between 2 fellows. I thought my fellow Carolinian was a one legged man in an a$$ kicking contest. Way to keep your cool man!
