Towing Exhaust

I want to get an exhaust for my truck, and I've been looking at a flowmaster. I will be towing a boad on weekends and stuff and I was looking at a 40 series but the 50 series is an option too. Which one should i go with???

How much noise do you want to make? I have a 70 series BigblockII muffler and it has nice tone, but not too intrusive in the cabin. This Flowmaster replaced a Gibson and I can't tell any difference in performance. I do like the sound better though.

I know my choices are conservitive, but I'm interested more in function and performance than wakeing up the neighborhood. Loud is cool (been there, done that), but it gets old after a while.

Oh, one more thing, the Gibson came off because it fell off after 2 years of use. the muffler roited off at the output nipple/tailpipe. It was the muffler that came apart, not the tail pipe. I do all highway driving, about 20-25K per year, so heavy condensation should not have taken the toll on this so called high quality piece.

98 supercab Flairside, 2X4, 4.6 tow pack
Flowmaster Y behind cats 2.5 into 3"
3" BigblockII muffler & 3" sweptside tailpipe
Superchip and K&N GenII intake

I like the magnaflow with the tail pipes out the side behind the tire. I pull a camper and the sound bounced off the camper when they were out the back.

if you tow much, you will want to make shure your exhaust wont dammage the boat.

I have a flow 50 and like it. I dont really feel any power loss, but do have the FIPK,

I want to be herd, being really quiet isnt an issue at WOT, BUT I dont want it to be really loud at cruising speeds or at towing speeds. DOes the 50 series have a nice tone?? Did you put in the 70 series yourself??

If you're asking me about the 50&70 series, I had a shop weld in the 70series BigblockII muffler, and the 50 I can't say.

The 70series was an easy install. I would have done it myself, but I wanted it welded.

I have the three chamber 50 series delt flow Flowmaster. The sound is non-intrusive on my stereo system, and with the windows up you can bearly hear them. You hear a low pitch humming noise. Outside the truck is another story. When you hit the gas she still screams though. The 50 series have a deeper tone, in fact it sounds more tuned than anything else.

I'm happy with mine.
