Fiberglass? coming out of exhaust pipe
Can anyone tell me what this is and why it is happening on my 2013 F150. 130k, 5.0
It appears to be a long strand of fiberglass type material coming out of the tail pipe.

What the ???

Looks clean & white

That is from the resonator. By losing that fiberglass floss it will have a deeper exhaust note.

would the fiberglass coming out the tailpipe cause the vehicle to get 25% less mileage and use more fuel?

It shouldn't unless it's causing a blockage. Is it down on power? Might want to go to a muffler shop and get it checked out.

went to midas muffler shop and they never heard of fiberglass coming out of tailpipe but they would sell me a muffler for $625 dollars my next stop will be auto zone,

Are you the original owner? Is it possible a prior owner installed a glass pack muffler? That was what projectSHO89 was hinting at.
