Unhappy Someone Help!, My Mileage has gone down the toilet

So I went and had my exhaust modified on the weekend. I went with a Ravin Z-33 SI/DO
with stainless tips. For those that don't know, the Z-33 is the highest flow of the Z series,
thus being the loudest. The first thing I will say is the sound, it is Awesome, deep,
throaty, none of that blub blub sound or anything. I am 100% impressed. The tipss look
awesome and the package as a whole is pretty damm hot. But with the good I guess the
bad must follow. After having everything installed I kept my eye on the fuel gage. Well to
my dismay, the fuel gage was dropping like a rock. Before the mod, I was getting about
280-300 KILOMETRES to a half tank and after the mod, I seemd to get around 140-150
KILOMETRES per half tank. This is just average driving. Now I realize I may have my foot
into the throttle a little more, but man not enough to drop my fuel milage by half. Does
anyone have any oppinions that may help recifty my situation? One thing I had heard
somewhere is the computer need to go through a "re-leaning" process that elp everything
get back into sink once a modification to intake or exhaust happens. Does anyone know if
this is true? I asked the local Ford Dealer and the looked at me like I was nuts. Somebody,
Anybody, give me some advice. Because if it oesn't get any better I just may have to say
good-bye to the awesome sound just to save some cash on gas. Oh well, I geuss we live
and learn eh?
Cheers

I don't know how much driving you have done since the mod but I can tell you what mine did...

Normally I get about 100 miles per 1/4 tank of gas. The first 1/4 tank after I got the NO-Y system went by in about 30 miles! After about 200 miles everything pretty much went back to normal. Now I get about the same mileage I always did.

Not yet

No I haven't disconnected the battery yet, I get the Z55 on tonight and once I do that I will try the battery thing. I also talked to dealer last week and he actually sounded like he knew what he was talking about and he told me when you disconnect the battery it does nothing but erase any soft errors in the computer. It does not erase any hard errors ( the errors that cause the check engine light to come on) and it definalty does not change the fuel/air mixture/ratios/curves. I am not sure if I believe him but I will try it for myself later this week
I'll let you know

Talking Ravins

Hey Tweaker, I had the 33 with a SI/DO set up and it did sound great. I have already swapped to the Z-55 SI/DO setup and I am glad I did. Yeh the sound did drease just slightly but not nearly as much as I thought it would. The rumble still turns heads when I accelerate and on the highway it doesn't give me any drone at all. Now when I had the 33 series on my truck the feul mileage decreased substantially, after the swap, I am getting better gas milage than stock. Now don't get me wrong I thought the 33 was awesome, but the 55 suites my application much better.
Thanks for the adive
Cheers
