Flowmaster 44 series drone fix?

Got a flowmaster 44 series installed today on my 06 STX with the 4.6l. Sounds great but it's droning horribly under acceleration, to the point its tough to maintain a conversation at normal levels. It reminds me on sitting on a waverunner. I'm just about ready to just get rid of it, and of course I threw out my original muffler when the flowmaster was installed. Any tips on removing drone? Its a single in/ single out muffler.

Then I really don't have any suggestions other than get rid of it, unless part of the system is up against the body or frame due to misalignment or the hangers are not rubber isolated.

Isn't that the "Fartmaster" MGDfan used to always poke fun at?

It's interesting to me how different people like different things. I want my vehicles to be as quiet as possible - a totally electric vehicle would probably be perfect, sound-wise, for me. And others really get off on the rumble of a big V8.

I'm not saying anyone is right here, but I'm always fascinated in the way different people see the world. It's probably best that we don't all like the same thing, isn't it?

Maybe you can get a stock muffler from a "recycling yard" if you decide you can't live with the new one.

If you have an exit tip on it, try removing it. It is funny how much a tip can effect sound output and droning.

Otherwise, you are left to replace the muffler. I would go for a Borla ProXS series.

I cut out the old monster, and welded in a flowmaster 50. Had to weld in hangers and extra pc of pipe to everything strong for off road. Sounds great outside about not noisy inside. Sounds great w/ windows down. Lifetime warranty on it because stainless.
