Exhaust

I just got exhaust on my 2006 ford f150 4.6L. Its a dual exhaust with x pipe, and flowmaster 40 series mufflers, and it is not as loud as i wanted. What could i do to make it loud?

well, you could upgrade to a 10 series, cut your 2 rear cats off and install hi-flows in place of your 2 front cats.

On one of my older trucks I installed dual Flowtech Red Hots glasspack mufflers. The trick with these is, you install them and drive around for a while until they are hot then you spray cold water into each muffler and it's supposed to break up the fiberglass which results in making it a straight pipe. Was freaking loud but a lot of back pressure!

2005.5+ don't have the 4 cats so you are already running the louder updated 2 cat system.

Personally I feel going with the dual midpipes you made it quieter, I had true duals on my 2004 5.4L with the rear cats removed and fronts only in place and my 2007 with stock cats, single 3" and single muffler with dual tails, is much louder and cleaner sounding than my 2004 was. But if all of this is recent I would not suggest changing it all out as you have money invested into it.

Remove the stock cats and replace for Magnaflow hi-flow units for more grunt. #94136 to be exact.

Or change the mufflers to a 4" round body muffler with a shorter exit ( Lightning style for example ) if you are willing to. Dynomax Bullets or Magnaflow round body 14" length.

If you insist on the chambered style mufflers, the Flowmaster Super 10 is a noisy little bastard.

Pull the mufflers and replace them with straight pipe.

Try out the tens. But i had an 02 f150 with a single in dual out super 10 muffler and it wasn't really loud. I did have four cats but it was pretty sad. I got it put on thinking it was going to scream and once they started her up i asked myself if they even put it on.. but watch Darrens videos with the dynomax bullets they are unreal. Ill be throwing those on my f250
