Help me choose my exhaust!

I've narrowed it down to two different kits in my price range, Roush and the Solo Performance 4".

My goal is loud with minimal cab drone, I'm aware drone will be present however I'd rather it not drone like it's a glasspack down there. I've listened to countless youtube videos on both as well, from what I can tell both have a sound I like and the drone isn't bad. Unfortunately, real world experience with these two isn't going to happen, I can't find anyone in my area with them.

I've only seen good things about the Solo setup however the Roush I've read a couple mixed reviews where people are having issues with it rattling. I don't have access to a welder without paying a shop, so I'd prefer to have something that's bolt on and won't need to be messed with anymore.

So does anyone have reason I should choose one over the other or better yet anyone have personal experience with both of them? Also, if you have any other I should consider I'll check them out too!

My brother has the Roush on his 2012 Screw... sounds very nice. It's very deep and loud.

The Solo, from what I hear on youtube, sounds better. People jump on the bandwagon too much and spew inaccurate information so I don't post in this section at all really anymore. Solo's kit on the 5.0 mustang sounds unreal. The sound is so well balanced between aggressiveness and that smooth straight though tone. I'll be picking up the solo muffler so I can swap between that and my Borla stinger when I redo my exhaust in a few months. You can't go wrong with either, but I have to give the nod to Solo on this one.

Thanks for the reply! And I agree with you, from what I've heard on youtube the solo sounds better. The only thing I don't like too much about it is the huge exhaust tip but I suppose thats a minor thing that can be changed down the road if it doesn't grow on me.

I myself prefer the Roush kit on these newer trucks. They sound so damn good. But drone on the otherhand I believe is quite heavy, at least my view from the Roush Performance video with the black XLT truck they used. I hate the Roush exit tip but they now offer a OEM style exit with the double wall tip. I love that look. One tip sticking straight out is just awkward looking.

The Solo kit has Borla quality time invested in it also, I would want to say that kit would be less droning due to the larger muffler. So I would suggest Solo for you.

You're right on Darren, good amount of drone with the roush. I like it, as I bet you would too, but I think many who just want it a bit louder would not.

Personally I like the sound of the Solo system. But is 4" pipe too big? Can you lose low end with bigger diameter pipe? I've read where people thought the Roush had more drone and was loud. I bought a '13 with the 5.0 back in July. Still bone stock. Any info you can give after your purchase would be nice. Good luck....

Yup I'll definitely let you know when I get it on what I think. Unfortunately the exhaust is going to get put off for another couple weeks, I hit a deer in my girlfriends car last week so majority of my exhaust budget is getting put towards her deductible instead to get her car fixed.

We've found the drone really comes down to the cab configuration. The short answer is the larger the cab the more it will tend to resonate at certain speeds.
