narrowed it down to these two systems

04 xlt 4x4 5.4. these two fall into my price range. the Gibson has a rebate until the end of the month. I want a loud, deep tone. I don't daily drive the truck and I don't have neighbors to worry about so I am not concerned with too loud and I don't think either will be too loud anyways. so which would you choose and why?

Avoid the Gibson. It's barely louder than stock, and the muffler is 110% junk - baffles will separate and rattle on you.

Dynomax is louder, but neither is likely gonna be loud enough fer ye.

Neither is really a perf system, and both are only aluminized. If you pine fer a catback, I'd save up fer a Borla SS system.

Or - Just drop in a bullet or a small oval-body Maggie, add a nice, shiney SS tip, save yer money, and call it a day. Muffler drop-in's, done right, offer 80% of the benefits of a catback at a fraction of the cost. Done incorrectly - you impact low-end torque. You'll also retain yer OEM SS tubing, instead of replacing it with junk.

thanks for the reply. unfortunately my stock exhaust is falling apart and needs to be replaced before it falls off and it sounds terrible. this isn't a planned upgrade and stainless systems just aren't in the budget right now.

If you want deep and loud, you're looking at the wrong kits. This particular sound is something you need to piece together. Have a listen to my system in the signature.

I have found mbrp siso SS for $350 shipped from Performance truck parts I like the sound clips I've heard and I think I'm going to order when I get my income tax returns

I looked at my exhaust. the muffler is coming apart and the intermediate pipe is broke right behind the cat. the tailpipe is still solid. I have a mig welder so I am thinking based on advice in this thread of getting a stainless magnaflow and a section of stainless pipe and welding it in myself. it looks like I need a center in offset out 2.5 in diameter. which magnaflow is deepest loudest. I want to here this truck from idle to wot. I know the stock cats are gonna kill some sound but they are staying.

The shorter the body (and the smaller the oval cross-section) the louder the output.

Folks 'round here usually recommend the 14" - 18" body sizes, IIRC.
