I would say a 15% - 20% sound increase.
Have any input on an e-cutout? Been reading about them and it seems that it is best of both worlds. Keep the system i have now but when i want just a press of the button and i can go wide open. But then again people have been saying the door for the cutout never really shuts so it sounds like you would have an exhaust leak.

I personally don't care for them. I myself prefer the sound from a well toned muffler. An open exhaust in raw form just doesn't do it for me.

True. Well I'm getting my inspection this month, I'm thinking just getting my sticker and getting rid of the cats after. Bad idea or good? I know engine light will probably be on but would it cause damage to my truck or no?

On other forums people have suggested taking out the resonators?

Well if you are going to remove cats, you need to factor in what will you do next year come inspection time. Know somebody that will pass it? Plan to re-install factory Y pipe with cats a few weeks prior to inspection? Sounds like a hassle unless option 1 is a possibility.

You can get your truck tuned to run ok without cats, but these things run just fine with cats and a good build and tune. Custom tuning for it will make it function properly, and keep the CEL off.

Trucks with resonators are the 2011/2014 models, aka Coyote and 6.2Ls the ones that rumble. I believe the EcoBoost has it too as they have the V8 truck exhaust system.

Yeah I was just going to then have them install high cats this time next year but i think in the end it is just a waste of money. I'm going to post a video for you guys to show you what it sounds like. Im either going to bite the bullet and go for high flows right away and hope for the best or what exact setup would you recommend for the best tone that is loud. I wish i could run true duels but not sure if that is possible on my truck. Thanks again for the help! Decisions decisions!

I'm still a young buck but I learned quick, if your going to put money into it ( no matter what it is ), do it right once. I wasted money on my 2004 truck only to fix things later on. Not so much with this truck, I've done better with it. Wanted the Harley grill, didn't bother with a FX2 or Billet, it costed but seeing how it looks I am happy in the long run

I honestly feel my setup is a good loud sound with some tamed tone to it. The videos do make it sound much more apparent than it is in person, it isn't a diesel volume for sure, but it's as noisey as any pushrod with a 2 chamber. The cats in this model aren't as free as 2009, but they certainly aren't cluttered up '90s cats either.

I hear ya. My instinct is to just go with the high flows and if i end up wanting to change my muffler later on ill do that. Just bothers me how a 04 chevy 1500 with the 4.8 sounds ten times better but then i learned those only have two cats then i have four. Now with high flows and a 5.4 thumping it should be what i am looking for but if it ends up with little or no different might have to sit back and give up.

Understandable. Chevy push rods also sound much more aggressive naturally, and run 2.75" exhaust with good factory manifolds. They always sound good with anything. I had a 2005 2500HD 6.0L with dual Super 44 and it was deep and hollow, and ear dea fencing with drone. Modular block Fords just aren't as aggressive without some engine block work, and headers. The 4.6 Cobra SVT will always be my favorite modular sound.

Darren definitely know's what he is talking about. His setup inspired mine.

Exhaust Finished.. 2.5" True Duals With Vids & Pics

Here is mine:

3" True Duals with High Flows and DynoMax Bullets. Set that up 5 years ago, but still love it. Still get compliments on the sound of it.

Yep that's a smart decision. If you start with the High Flows and don't like the new sound, continue to move on. But you may end up liking the sound right after the adding the high flows and removing 2 of 4 cats.

Thats the plan, high flows. Now with your system i am in love with that sound it is exactly what i want and it seems loud. I'm thinking get the high flows put on see how it sound then if I don't really notice a huge difference do you think an X pipe with duel super 10s would sound good? Im not sure if they would fit with a dual but if not i might have to go with the bullets because those sound mean. I read you have a supercharger on yours, do you think that would effect sound or just a little?

If you go with dual mufflers, dual chambered mufflers will have the same tone ( as packed mufflers will also ), but the chambered mufflers will have a more awkward warping/wrap/crackle type sound under revs and high rpm. Direct flowing packed mufflers will just sound out the engines natural sound in a toned manner. My main point is, if you change to duals, change mufflers while your at it. True duals won't make a dramatic tone increase over a single muffler. Matter of fact by slowing down the exhaust systems velocity with a loss of static pressure, you aren't getting the full heart tone of the muffler taking the force of the single exhaust to 'filter the sound'. In short, the duals will be more aggressive under WOT, and sound the same at low rpm and idle. If anything, the idle will sound more 'dual-ly'.

I love the well toned sound of the Magnapack over the dual Bullets I had on my last truck, but the raw aggressive attack that the Bullets had was quite nice. I am loving the deep rich tone this Magnapack puts out, but it could be a little better. By that I refer to the rasp Magnaflows put out at WOT. Borla is the best of both worlds but the deal at the time for the Magnapack made it the deal breaker. If you decide to change your tubing to dual, or just change the muffler, the Bullet is now available in stainless, and is very well priced. I wouldn't hesitate to go for it if you enjoy the sound.
