Dynomax 12" bullet SISO on my 07... Questions

I'm getting my 12" bullet welded on tomorrow, I have a knockoff Super 10 style POS that has a reccurent rattle at 2k-3k rpms, the shop is gonna put my bullet on and they're doing something to compensate the fact that their knockoff flowmaster brand lasted less than 10k miles.
I have a SISO with a 4" rolled tip right now, with the bullet, I was thinking turn down and keep the tip under the truck to make it deeper, is that a good or bad idea? Alternative ideas were run it out before the rear tire like a lightning, or just dumped and sell the tip to a buddy?

Sorry that's a wordy post. But this'll be the 4th exhaust setup on this truck.

First was just a muffler delete.

Then Knockoff flow 40 but it was too quiet, then knockoff 10 which was great until it started rattling and honestly it sounded great prior to that.

Now the bullet.

The truck is a 4x4 Supercrew 6.5 bed leveled on 2011 Raptor takeoff's with 3.73 LS. 5.4 3v

I personally don't like the sound of an exhaust dumped under the bed, but some do prefer it. It's more "grumblier" (as one guy put it, accurately I think), but it sounds "off" to me and I consider it the "cheap" way to do it.

That said, I say to just weld the bullet in, see how you like it as-is, then add tips/lightning exits/etc. later, as it'll cost the same regardless. I think that's definitely the way to go I think bullets sound great on the 5.4

Also, just go straight to the quality products next time

Got the bullet put on. Turned down no tip. Sounds pretty nice I've heard it takes 3000 miles to get the bullet to sound better.

Anyway they didn't charge me anything to put in on and kept their rattling old knockoff 10 series.

Glad you like it. Not sure about a resonator breaking in though. Glad they did this one for "free"

From what I understand a bullet is just a glasspack.. Basically.

I don't really like tips showing on my truck, I think it looks cleaner that way.
My next truck will be an F250 and you can bet I'll have a 6" tip on that.

Bullets are a straight-through resonator, not really a glass pack (from what I know). It doesn't matter either way, but its sound shouldn't change.

It's personal taste, I just like tips because they sound better. I'd slap a stack on if I had a diesel

Their website says it's filled with some fiberglass deal and it looks like a glasspack, inner tube with a bunch of little holes in it. Oh well..

I am extremely happy overall with the sound of this setup, I definitely feel an increase in pep over the fartmaster. Strange that I read about losing torque but I chirped my tires from a stop the other day without trying to and the fartmaster didn't do that if I floored it.

Keep in mind that my truck is probably about 7400lbs. The door sticker says 7200 on stock wheels and tires.

Glad you can feel a little something extra. Fartmasters certainly suck for flow.

That 7400 has gotta be the GVWR or something like that, like truck weight plus max payload (I can't keep all those acronoyms straight). It weighs more in the 5500 lb ball park. 7400 would certainly be a porker! Curb weight is what you want to try and find.

Ahaha, guess i read that funny, I was surprised to see 7200 but I thought that sounded heavy.
Sticker in door does say 7200 somewhere though but I think it's the max something or another.. makes sense.

Yeah that is GVWR. Curb weight will be listed on some states registration and you can look it up online but it should be above 6000 but below 6500. My dad's 00 gmc sierra ext cab 4x4 is about 5600 and my girlfriend's 06 quad cab ram is also about 5800.

Ok yeah I wasn't sure but figured around 6k. Heck even my reg cab shortbed 08 weighs 4364lbs. And that's 500 more than my 04 heritage reg cab long bed. Both are 4.2 and 5speed.

Yeah, these trucks sure are porkers It's funny cause with the massive "700 pound weight loss," they're only 300 lbs. or so lighter than the competition. My 2WD 06 screw weighs 5100-5200 lbs. I should've tested it on the scale last time I went to the dump to get a completely accurate real-life number.
