Pre-Muffler?????????
Got a 2013 5 liter F150 Lariat Screw in October of last year. Finally got around to the exhaust and ordered my Flowmaster which arrived yesterday. Looked under the truck and it has what looks like a resonator or something in front of the muffler. Anyway I am debating on taking it out or not. I noticed the truck has a little bit of a rumble to it and am thinking the object in question is the reason for the rumble. Those who have 2013 what did you do? Give me some feedback!!!

I have a 13 FX4 with the 5.0 and yes that is a resonator. I just put a magnaflow kit on mine and I plan on deleting the resonator.

Hi & Welcome to the site!
Right...
And then adding that ridiclulous excuse fer a muffler - yer Fartmaster - is gonna restrict it all over again. Actually, restrict it MORE than the incredibly good straight-through, all stainless free-flowing wonder that is the OEM stock muffler on this truck. That's where yer 'rumble', AND yer existing low-end torque, is coming from.
Whatever were you thinking? You can't be serious aboot flow or perf if you chose Fartmaster.
There! Howz Dat fer Feedback?

you're not the only one that prefers the Flowmaster sound. I didn't miss any low end torque I lost and love the Flowmsster tone.

Finally added the Flowmaster and to all those who have a new truck with the resonator on it. YOU need to have them take it off!!!!!!!!! With the resonator my truck sounded just like it did when it was stock. Once the resonator was cut out and pipe welded in my Flowmaster sounded great even louder than the same muffler on my 2003. The resonator will suppress you sound. My 2013 Lariat Screw now has a nice rumble to it!!!!!!!! Thats a good fart to it for all the Flowmaster nay sayers but I love it!!!!!!

Having a glasspack or resonator there will be noticeably quieter than not having one at all. Personally, I wouldn't bother unless the Maggie you have is too loud. If you haven't put it on yet, I'd wait to see how it sounds. IF you have some rasp, which you shouldn't with an 18", a resonator helps remove some of the harsher/annoying tones at higher RPM.

The resonator is basically a straight thru like a glasspack anyway. Mine was about 14" long, so if you go longer it will quiet it down some, while going shorter will make it louder. You can change the tone by trying different brands until you get the sound you like. Or just do what I did, and replace the resonator with straight pipe. I got a 4' chunk of 2.5" stainless and two stainless band clamps off amazon for less than 80 bucks
