OBX cat life?

I did a 5.4 swap with OBX long tubes with OBX cats. I dropped off my truck with the tuner last night and he informed me that I will be lucky to get 20k miles out of ANY aftermarket cat because:
- the stock tuning strategies from Ford do an excellent job of protecting the stock system from over heating, but will be worthless with another set-up.
- all aftermarket cats are far inferior to oem including Magnaflo.

For those with long tubes and cats:
- How have they held up?
- How many trouble free miles have you gotten?
- Who makes the components you have?
- Do you tow regularly?

Thanks!

I fully agree that no aftermarket cats will last as long as OEM ones, especially Fords, but I doubt 20k will be the minimum unless its tuned too rich. 80k - 100k on a set of aftermarket cats sounds right to me.

Exactly why I'm done with the praised 94106 around here. Metal substrate cats are more durable. They're better cats and don't break apart like ceramic cats. High end header companies use these. I'm looking at a new 5.0 mustang for next year and the quality headers come with those cats too.

The obx substrate appears to be metal. I hope they do hold up!

I barely post anymore haha... Earlier in college I had more time. I'm so busy now a days with how much I work and graduating in a few months. I uses to have more time on my hands.

While I question obx's quality, metal substrate is the way to go.
