Who takes care of their tips?

I do, and I hate seeing crappy tips on vehicles. To me it just screams that the owner doesn't care enough about their exhaust. I was going crazy this winter, I'm so busy with school I have all I can do just to keep the truck clean. I finally took my Roush tips off my kit and re-polished them.

Some before pics (one washed, the other not)

I used a combination of a SS polishing kit with different tips and emery bars for varying finishes. Borla's exhaust polish I used after and I can't say how much I love it. Been using it for about 2 years or so and it's really great stuff. As my polishing skills develop more, I should have my future exhaust tips going on the truck shortly scratch free constantly

Afters

I have about 1.5 hours into them and yes, the insides are polished too, no cheating

Looks great--I use Mother's Chrome polish on my tips. It shines them up nicely.

I do the same thing except I use a cotton sock & polish....just like a shoe shine- takes about 1-2 minutes!

Very nice polish job. I keep my truck overall pretty spotless in the warm months. I go crazy with the detailing and always have it looking pristine. Sometime this week I will be getting an XR1 with 4" stainless tips put on, can't wait for that.

I transitioned from taking care of the tips, to not caring to after they have been coated in tar and debris.

Thanks guys! Bronze wool works real well.

I'm removing scratches doing this... Polish alone does not do that.

I am about to get new 4" stainless tips and have them 45'd behind the tires. I understand that this will make them get dirty much faster and more often BUT it's the best look in my opinion. Will I be able to keep them shined up like new every time?

I did... I had my exhaust 45'd for 40k+ miles. You just need to stay on top of them.
